Everyone watched at Ayumi was engulfed by the giant flame created by Itachi and Sasuke. It looked like not even Ayumi could predict that it would grow to the size it did. It was comparable to a Susanoo's Fireball Jutsu. She wound up taking all of the attack because of her initial surprise and miscalculation of how powerful the two brothers would be together.
"Wow, they really nailed her." Rocket said gleefully
"You never saw Itachi's memories of him and his brother. When they weren't trying to kill each other, they were a powerhouse." Robin responded.
"I'm glad we found Sasuke. Itachi is still technically considered a terrorist in his home world so finding Sasuke was a stroke of real luck." M'gann added.
"Wait what? Trying to kill each other? A terrorist?!" Rocket asked in confusion. Artemis went over to smooth it over, "Yeah, we'll explain once this craziness is over. It's a long story."
"Good job finding help." Batman said as he stood with the help of Wonder Woman. The other heroes were starting to wake up as well, "With the way things stand, they might actually beat her. We just have to hope she doesn't have any more tricks up her sleeve."
"We need to step in and help them." Green Lantern said through the pain he was feeling in his body.
"I agree. It shouldn't be on them alone to fight for our planet." Superman added.
"No, we'd only get in their way. Let's allow them to finish this." Batman rebutted.
"Why?!" Green Lantern angrily replied. Bruce put a hand on his shoulder, "Because this is bigger than us…bigger than Hal. I know you want revenge, but it will only lead you to despair. Let Itachi and his brother handle this."
"Why them and not us?!" He demanded. This time it was Canary who answered him, "Because if you or anyone of us fought her, it would only be out of fear and hate. Itachi and his brother don't fear the Stranger nor do they hate her either. They fight for their love for each other and their faith in humanity to prove her wrong. Batman is right. It's bigger than us."
"We just have to put our faith in Itachi and Sasuke. This fight is the entire reason Itachi was brought back from death. He won't fail. I know he'll save both of our universes." M'gann declared.
"Well whatever those brothers are gonna do, they had better do it fast because The Stranger survived that blast and she looks pissed." Green Arrow pointed out.
"It begins, or I should say, it ends now." Batman said as the smoke cleared.
Sasuke and Itachi stared as the smoke cleared. Sasuke got ready to continue the fight by unsheathing his sword, "Any chance she got the message and decides to give up?"
"No, she's very determined to see her plan through to the end. Don't underestimate her. It will lead to your death." Itachi warned.
"Good to know. Does she have any inherent weaknesses?" Sasuke asked as he wanted to assess the enemy.
"Yeah…us." Itachi responded as Sasuke smirked. Ayumi glared daggers at them when the smoke cleared. She didn't know how, but her plan was going terribly wrong, 'No! No no no no no! Why did 'he' have to show up?! This makes things a lot harder. I won't be able to hold back now, not with two of them. Stay calm, Yumi. You can still win. Itachi has the other heroes off to the side so they won't be a factor anymore, which means I only need to take out Indra's reincarnation. After I take him out, I'll just use Demonic Resurgence to lay waste to the field and take Carson and Itachi.'
Ayumi stretched out her hand to summon her Masamune. The legendary sword oozed with darkness and power. She then activated her Chakra Mode to shroud herself with even more energy as she got ready to launch an attack. By the time she was done, the very earth beneath her quivered from the force of her power.
She weaved hand signs to launch Fire Jutsu of her own. Itachi and Sasuke saw this and braced themselves. Before Ayumi actually released the attack though, she disappeared in a shroud of shadows.
"Sasuke keep your guard up! She has very powerful Fire Jutsu." Itachi warned. Ayumi shot multiple fireballs at the brothers and caused them to have to act fast in order to dodge them. Ayumi then reappeared in front of Itachi and kicked him away before he could react. The kick was so powerful that he got sent hurdling into a nearby wall of rocks. The attack would have knocked him out of the fight if it weren't for his Susanoo's ribcage softening the impact.
Sasuke, on the other hand, wasted no time in reacting as he dodged multiple attacks of her Masamune. He then countered by charging his own sword with Chidori and successfully cutting her three times with it. Ayumi cried out in pain before disappearing in a flash of speed to head towards the wall she kick Itachi into.
"I don't think so!" Sasuke summoned his Susanoo in its full-body, humanoid state. It created its bow and loaded arrows made of Amaterasu instantly to aim right at Ayumi. The arrows were released with the intent of both striking Ayumi and shielding Itachi. The tactic worked as one of the arrows managed to hit Ayumi and blast her out of the air.
She recovered quickly and used her Masamune to unleash a devastating blast of chakra towards Sasuke's Susanoo. It dove out of the way of the blast that left a crater where the beast last stood, all the while still shooting at Ayumi. She contorted her body to evade the arrows but had forgotten about Itachi, who had enough time to recover from her sneak attack, and failed to evade being smacked out of the sky by his humanoid Susanoo.
As she crashed into the ground, Itachi kept on the pressure by using his Yasaka Magatama to pulverize her even further. She screamed in pain before disappearing using her speed. She didn't get far because Sasuke was right on her tail. He appeared right beside her and left in shock.
'No way. He shouldn't be able to catch up to me. No, this isn't speed…it must have something to do with the special power of his Rinnegan.' She hypothesized. Sasuke struck her with his sword soon afterwards. If it weren't for her parrying the attack with her sword, she would have lost her head. Ayumi kept trying to run away, but each time she gained ground on Sasuke her would teleport right next to her and continue to cut into her body.
Ayumi eventually had enough and unleashed streams of lightning at Sasuke. He merely charged his sword up and cut each stream while also evading her attack from behind. She decided to try something new and went for Itachi instead, which was a big mistake because he responded by using new wrinkles of his powers on her.
The fist of his Susanoo turned into a fierce fireball that struck Ayumi directly and set her entire body on fire. He was determined to kill her, "Burn out. Go straight to hell and take your life aspirations with you."
She laughed at him as the flames were absorbed into her sword thanks to its defensive capabilities, "The flames of man cannot burn me!"
"Fine, then how about divine flames then," She looked at him in confusion as he held weaved the Boar, Horse, and Tiger hand signs. His Rinnegan began to glow with power as Ayumi felt the air around her start to get hot. She thought everything was okay until she heard Itachi launch his next attack, "Fire Style! Almighty Push!"
Instead of pushing Ayumi away with the gravity around her, Itachi set the gravity around her on fire and used his eye to push the heavenly flames all towards her in a focused blast that left her skin charred and burnt.
"Looks like you did wind up burning away after all." Itachi retorted. Sasuke wanted to finish her off but Itachi held him back. He could see the steam emitting from her body thanks to her acquiring Wrath's technique and decided that now wasn't the time.
"I have a feeling that was just the warm up, Sasuke." Itachi wound up being right as Ayumi rose back to her feet fully healed. She cracked her neck as she withdrew her sword, "Most impressive. Not too many people can overwhelm me, even if I hold back. But playtime is over, boys. Susanoo!"
A giant, golden Susanoo was called forth. Ayumi immediately put it in its Perfect form and got it ready to do damage against the Uchiha Brothers. Sasuke looked at his brother briefly and got a nod of confirmation as they both knew what was needed next. Both the brothers called forth their own Susanoo and got them each into their Perfect form as well.
"Let's paint it red, brother." Sasuke said.
"And her black and blue." Itachi responded.
The others braced themselves as the three giants clashed. It was clear from their perspective that Ayumi's was far more powerful based on its size, but with the fight still being two on one, it was still a coin toss as to who would win.
"Everyone brace for cover! You don't want to get hurt from the collateral damage of their attacks." Superman warned.
Just as he said that, Sasuke and his Susanoo could be seen being swatted away like flying into a nearby rock striation. Itachi's Susanoo launched a volley of Yasaka Magatama at Ayumi. She didn't even bother used her sword to block the attack this time. Even though every Yasaka Bead connected, including two that happened to hit Ayumi's Susanoo in the head, no damage was shown to be inflicted. Or the more accurate statement being that any damaged cause to it was immediately rectified due to Ayumi's healing ability stretching to her Susanoo as well.
"Itachi, I will provide salvation to the world through you. My Susanoo is the most powerful force of nature known to man and it has never failed me in serving its purpose of furthering my goals. Even when I used to gain my freedom back from the Uchiha Clan long ago. It will now be used to subdue you and your brother." Ayumi declared.
"You overestimate your power, Ayumi." Itachi retorted. Ayumi was about to attack with her Masamune but changed course at the last moment and used its Fate Mode. The blade turned black and the sound of screaming men filled the air. It saw three black arrows made of Amaterasu and deflected them back towards where they came from. She wouldn't have normally gone to such lengths for just arrows, but Sasuke was so skilled that he was able to aim them all at the center jewel in the middle of Ayumi's Susanoo where she was located. Had she let them go unchecked, it would have pierced her defenses and made contact with her, thus killing her. She could not allow that to happen. Sasuke had his Susanoo evade by flying away fast as the arrows decimated the vantage point that he was posted up at.
"You're a smart one, boy. Rather than feebly attack my Susanoo and its defense, you chose to go for it weak point, me. Very cunning, much like my grandfather, Indra. Too bad I saw it coming though. You will have to do a lot better than that. My Masamune's Fate Mode alone is strong enough to wipe you out, and don't get me started on its Fury Mode." Ayumi warned.
Sasuke knew she was right based on the last exchange. Attacking her Susanoo was futile thanks to her healing ability. Also, he has lost the element of surprise so attacking Ayumi discreetly wouldn't do either. She would be more on the lookout for it now. Ayumi's Masamune didn't help matters either thanks to its ability to deflect attacks. And because of all of the universal jumps he made in attempting to get here, Sasuke's Rinnegan wasn't at full power yet so he had to use it sparingly, thus preventing him from just teleporting next to her. The situation was not ideal for him.
"Fire Style! Fireball Jutsu!" Itachi's Susanoo launched a fireball at Ayumi's, but her golden defense had grown so powerful that it didn't even need to use its sword to block the attack. It roared with enough might to blow the blast away before it was even close to making contact.
'It is far more powerful that last time I faced it in Gotham. Ayumi isn't playing around this time.' Itachi thought.
"Fire Style! Twin-Headed Dragon Flame Jutsu!" The attack was launched towards Itachi's friends. Ayumi knew what this would do as Itachi immediately flew over to protect them. He summoned his Yata Mirror and shielded them from the fire. Once the flames dissipated, Itachi checked to see if his friends were okay. They gave nods of approval before suddenly shouting at him to look out.
"You're mine, Itachi!" Ayumi swung her Masamune down on his Yata Mirror with all her force. Though Itachi's Susanoo was still on its feet, the power of her attack caused Itachi's Yata Mirror to crack in half and eventually shatter. His ultimate shield was gone from the battle.
"Itachi, keep her still!" Sasuke shouted as he shot a carefully aimed arrow at the head of Ayumi's Susanoo. The arrow connected, but thanks to her head being on a swivel, it didn't pierce her physical body. She pulled the arrow out of her Susanoo's head and threw it back at Sasuke, whom narrowly avoided it.
Itachi used the distraction to summon his legendary sword, the Totsuka Blade, and rocketed towards the head of Ayumi's Susanoo. It managed to stab into her Susanoo's right eye before flying away. Sasuke nodded in approval as he shot more arrows from the sky, all aimed towards her Susanoo's left eye. The attack worked and left the golden behemoth blind now.
"Itachi, that monster is blind now. I'll keep providing covering fire for you to take off its head." Sasuke informed his brother.
"Got it," Itachi, though, was halted as were Sasuke's arrows when Ayumi's Susanoo healed its eyes from the damaged it had incurred. It then used its wings to blow away Sasuke's arrows before they could redo the damage from before. Sasuke could see this fight was now getting out of hand, "None of our attacks are affecting it anymore. At this rate, nothing will be able to damage her Susanoo. We have to destroy it fast before it becomes immortal."
Ayumi's Susanoo began swinging Masamune to try to hit Itachi. His Susanoo was doing its best to avoid the attacks but they were starting to get faster and faster. Itachi didn't know why or how, but Ayumi was only getting stronger as this fight weighed on, which was bad news for everyone.
Itachi charged forward and tried to stab directly at Ayumi. Her Susanoo easily stopped the attack with the Masamune as shockwaves resonated throughout the air. The speed of her Susanoo had increased just as its power had. It then sent Itachi's Susanoo plummeting to the ground with its sword. Sasuke decided to charge at it sense the long ranged attacks weren't working but he got the same result as Itachi, sent to the ground in a cloud of dust.
Both of their Susanoo were heavily damaged. Itachi's was missing part of a wing, the jewel in its head containing Itachi was almost shattered, its Yata Mirror was completely destroyed, and its Totsuka Blade had so many cracks in it that it was a miracle that it was still in one piece. Sasuke's Susanoo was missing an arm, its armor was in shambles, and it, too, was in danger of having its head jewel shattered.
"This is it, boys. My next attack will wipe out your defenses and bring me victory." Her blade began turning red as it started to enter its Fury Mode. The brothers knew they were running out of options.
"Sasuke, we can't lose here." Itachi declared.
"Yeah, I know." Itachi made his battered Susanoo stand back up as did Sasuke. Itachi then turned to his younger brother, "You have any ideas?"
"Yeah, just one. But I don't know how well it will work considering I've never tried it on another Susanoo before."
"We still have to try. I have faith in you, Sasuke." Itachi said reassuringly.
"Thanks, I won't let you down. Now, activate Majestic Attire!" Sasuke called out. Sasuke's Susanoo transformed into a ball of purple light that engulfed Itachi's Susanoo. The light then started to take a physical form again in the shape of armor only this time the purple armor was placed on Itachi's Susanoo. The cracks from before had disappeared and Itachi's wing had grown back. After growing back, both wings then were cloaked in a veil of lightning that shined a bright blue color. Itachi's Susanoo started growing in size to fit the armor was now big enough to look Ayumi's Susanoo in the eye. A new Susanoo of red and purple was created to take up the fight against Ayumi.
"This won't help you! My sword is unstoppable!" Ayumi shouted as the screams of women and children filled the air thanks to her sword.
Itachi and Sasuke stood together in this new Susanoo as they also got ready for their most powerful attack, "I don't know how long we can hold this form for. This is a one-off shot. If we blow this, we lose."
"Then we won't blow this." Itachi declared. Their Susanoo summoned the cracked remains of Itachi's Totsuka Blade and transformed it into a new weapon. Itachi used his power to make the sword shift its shape until it resembled a hybrid arrow. It then was shrouded in the black flames of Itachi's Amaterasu and lightning from Sasuke's chakra. Sasuke used his power to create a bow made purely of lightning that was so powerful that the air around them started to feel electrified.
Their Susanoo drew the arrow on the bow and aimed directly for Ayumi's Susanoo. More and more lightning started to discharge from the bow and be released into the atmosphere. It caused the weather to change and a rain storm to wash over them. After what felt like an eternity, both sides had then released their ultimate attacks as the fate of the world weighed in the balance.
"Masamune! Fury Style! Soul Seal!" She shouted as her sword unleashed a wave of power.
"Lightning Style! Totsuka Arrow!" The brothers shouted.
The two attacks collided in what would be a clash of titans. The clash of attacks was so powerful that the very universe itself quivered from it. Waves of red and blue energy permeated throughout the sky and could be seen across entire worlds. The adult of the Justice League had to use their powers to shield the children from the blast.
"At this rate they are going to destroy the planet!" Green Lantern shouted as he used his ring to create a barrier around the group.
"It has to be like this. The savior and his can't hold back. We'll deal with the ramifications later." Fate said solemnly.
"I just hope he ends this battle soon." Artemis said as she hugged Wally close.
"The storm of energy is started to fade. Oh no…they're all falling." Superboy announced. As the young man said, three figures could be seen falling to the ground. Ayumi survived only because she had her Susanoo go into its Chakra Mode and use its wings as a shield to protect her. Itachi and Sasuke weren't in much better position. The blowback, along with the limit of time they could hold their combined Susanoo, caused them to also plummet to the ground.
Ayumi regained consciousness first and activated her Chakra Mode during freefall. She stopped her descent and took note of her opponents. She saw that their Susanoo was gone too and knew that they were entering the final leg of their fight. She weaved hand signs to get ready to reengage.
"Fire Style! Great Fire Annihilation!" A sea of fire was launched right at the brothers. Sasuke recovered first between the two. He infused his sword with the power of his lightning and swung his sword towards the sea of fire. The attack was so powerful and precise that it cut the flames in half, making sure both sides went past the brothers.
Itachi had recovered too and wasted no time in getting in the fight, "Fire Style! Universal Pull!"
He infused the power of his Rinnegan with his own fire affinity to reach out to the sky and literally pull nearby stars from space and have them thrown at Ayumi. As the balls of burning gas headed towards Ayumi she prepared to counter with a jutsu of her own.
"Lightning Style! Limelight Jutsu!" The stars then crashed into her and created a giant explosion of fire. Ayumi felt no damage from the attack due to the power of her Limelight Jutsu. Streams of lightning shot from her body at the moment of impact and protected. But not only did the lightning protect her, it then combined into a gigantic ball of lightning that she threw at the brothers. Sasuke used his Rinnegan to activate his Almighty Push to shield the brothers before the lightning made impact. Though the brothers made it out unscathed, the entire landscape around them felt the wrath of Ayumi's attack as the Earth began to shift and quake from the impact. At this rate, they were starting to change the landscape of the planet.
Ayumi saw them struggle to keep track of her and decided to get a sneak attack in, "Dodge this, Lightning Style! Lightning Joust!"
A beam of red lighting shot put from her right hand and went straight for Sasuke's head. Itachi pushed him out of the way while also dodging the attack as well. The beam of lightning flew past them and caused a giant explosion behind them. Ayumi wasn't done yet as she kept using the beam of lightning until the entire area went up in a glorious explosion of power.
Sasuke sprinted forward through the explosion and tried to get a shot at Ayumi while she was in between attacks. Ayumi had to use all of her speed to dodge his ferocious attempts of maiming her. Sasuke saw her backing away and threw shuriken at her to get her into position. As she turned to deflect the shuriken, Sasuke used his power to get past her defenses.
"Amenotejikara!" Sasuke teleported with one of the shuriken at the last second and was now within range to stab Ayumi in the heart. Before he could though, Ayumi powered up her Chakra Mode even more to increase her speed and retreat into the sky. As she did this, she also prepared her counterattack, "Fire Style! Twin-Headed Dragon Flame Jutsu!"
"Inferno Style! Honoikazuchi!" Sasuke summoned his black flames to shroud his sword and shaped them into the form of lightning to counter Ayumi's Twin-Headed Dragon Flame Jutsu. The ground behind Sasuke was obliterated, but Sasuke held his ground and was able to swing his sword to cut her flames in half once more. Just like before the attack worked, only this time, thanks to Sasuke using more chakra, the jutsu kept pushing forward until it almost hit Ayumi.
She had to quickly get out of the way as a lightning shaped, black fire was hurtled into her direction. Ayumi easily dodged his attack, "That was not enough to win this fight."
She was so focused on Sasuke that she forgot about Itachi. He was waiting for her to slip up and thanks to Sasuke, she was in his line of sight, "I got you now! Fire Style! Dragon Flame Jutsu!"
A dragon made of fire shot at Ayumi and almost had her dead to rights. She just barely avoided the attack by launching herself off of a floating piece of debris to narrowly avoid the attack. The brothers joined back up as she landed safely.
"Impressive. You switched roles mid fight. Now it is Sasuke who fights in close combat, while Itachi observes from a distance to wait for his time to strike, and all without haven spoken a word to each other. That takes great chemistry. I can feel both of your wills to win grow with each attack. It seems my efforts thus far have not even come close to being good enough to win this bout." Ayumi declared.
The air around her started to surge and the ground opened up next to her. She reached down and called forth her legendary sword yet again, the Masamune. Itachi and Sasuke couldn't believe it. They thought they had destroyed it with their combined Susanoo attack. It turns out that Ayumi was full of surprises.
Her Chakra Mode then changed its form from being a cloak of red lightning to a cloak of fire. Ayumi was getting ready for her most powerful jutsu, "It seems if I wish to come out on the winner's side, I must obliterate you with my next attack!"
The Earth beneath her started to erupt into a bed of lava as her Masamune began powering up into is Fury Mode. But not only that, the sky was now a great crimson color from all of the chakra being release from her sword. Before they knew it, the entire area around them was not a bed of volcanic lava thanks to her sword shifting the very fabric of the ground. The Justice League couldn't believe what was happening as the adult quickly moved to action.
Green Lantern encased the children in a barrier made of his rings power and took them to the air to avoid the lava and Fate used his magic to shield them from the heat. Superman and Captain Marvel got everyone else inside of the Javelin and lifted it into the air before they were encased in lava.
"If this is how Shinobi fights go down in their world, it's a miracle they still have a world at all." Wonder Woman noted.
"This is why I didn't want us to interfere. Their power is overwhelming. I just hope they don't destroy the world in their attempt to save it." Flash said.
"They won't. Itachi is always thinking of his friends. This will be over soon." Canary said in his defense."
Itachi had to use the Almighty Push to create enough cooled land for him and Sasuke to stand on. They both watched as Ayumi's sword was primed and ready to launch the final attack. It radiated with so much power and fire that it was as if the sun itself was flowing through her Masamune.
Ayumi had a solemn look at she stared down at her son and his brother, "Sasuke and Itachi Uchiha, I never would have thought that you two were powerful enough to make me use this jutsu. For that feat, I commend you. But this is the end. Let's see you counter this."
"This is it, Sasuke. We have to stop her hear and now!" Itachi shouted.
"It'll take everything we've got to do it. We can't hold back." Sasuke replied.
Ayumi raised her sword, "Now face the wrath of my ultimate attack! Fury Style! Blood Sun Blast!"
A beam of intense fire and energy was launched towards the brothers. The blast shook and threatened the very foundation of the Earth. It was even powered by the same properties of a red sun, making even Superman vulnerable to her attack. Only Sasuke and Itachi had the power to combat it. They weaved hand signs for a jutsu that has seen them through thick and thin. It was what started the rivalry between the brothers when they were children and now, it would be the tool the brothers would use to save the world together, "Fire Style! Fireball Jutsu!"
The combined ball of fire met Ayumi's attack head on as the two side fought for supremacy. Despite their combined power, it was clear that Ayumi's attack was the more powerful of the jutsu. But they knew that going in, so it felt wrong when Sasuke noticed how much power their fireball was lacking, even despite the situation. It didn't take him long to figure out the cause.
"Itachi, stop holding back! I know your friends are the reason you aren't going all out. You're scared of accidently hurting them from the blowback. If you don't give your all into this attack, it won't matter because that woman will kill me, take you away, and make you kill everyone with your Rinnegan. Now stand with me, brother! We will both show her the glimmer of victory that comes with the Will of Fire!" Sasuke shouted.
"You're right. Thank you, Sasuke. Let's end this now." Itachi then stopped holding back. Their fireball grew five times as big as a result and caused the ground around them to resume shaking again. Even despite the increase of power, it still was not enough as Ayumi's attack still was overwhelming their fireball.
'How is this still not enough?! Back when I fought Madara…wait that's it!' Sasuke thought. He spoke to Itachi about his revelation, "Itachi we can't beat her alone."
"That's not helping!" He shouted back at Sasuke. He refused to give up. He knew that too many lives were on the line, but Sasuke had no intention of giving up, "I got an idea about stopping this attack. But once I do this, my Rinnegan powers will have to recharge."
"What do you have in mind?" Itachi inquired. Sasuke then got his Rinnegan ready. He's never had to do what he's about to do before, "I can't send the entire blast away, but I can send just enough of it to cause a draw in our jutsu. When that happens, it'll probably cause another explosion, probably the biggest one yet. After that, it will be a free-for-all."
"Will you be able to move after using your eye?" Itachi asked.
"After something like this, I'll be out of chakra. I'll have one more trick up my sleeve to help, but the outcome of this fight will fall to you. Just remember that lightning does strike twice." Sasuke said as a final clue.
Itachi gave one final nod as he saw his brother get ready for what came next. Ayumi's blast was close to engulfing theirs so they knew it was now or never. Sasuke opened his Rinnegan wide before shouting, "Amenotejikara!"
And just like that, almost half of Ayumi's Blood Sun Blast had been teleported into another dimension. Once that happened, both of their attacks were on equal terms and wound up cancelling each other out. It resulted in a giant explosion as they canceled each other out. This explosion resembled that of a nuclear bomb being set off. Everything was laid to waste in the area.
When the dust was settled, only Ayumi was left standing. Her cracked Masamune was a telltale on how she survived. She surveyed the area and saw Sasuke was just barely still standing and that Itachi was face down on the ground and not moving. She figured he must've shielded his brother and took most of the explosion. Ayumi ran as fast as she could to get to him, running past and ignoring Sasuke altogether, which was a grave mistake.
"I got you now!" Sasuke said as he jumped onto her shoulders and lacer her into a triangle choke with his legs. He then brought out his sword and stabbed it right into her shoulder, while going through his leg. She thrashed about to try and get him off, but the sword made sure that they were stuck together.
"What do you think you're doing?! You let me go right now! My son needs me!" Ayumi screeched. Sasuke started gathering his chakra together to use his Chidori to have lightning surge into her body through his sword. Though this caused her pain, it wasn't nearly enough to stop her, "You're going to have to do better than that. Lightning is my chakra nature too. I was using the Chidori long before you were born! It'll take more power to stop!"
"Stop talking and you'd see that I do have more planned for you." Sasuke retorted. The clouds above were filled with thunder. The more seconds passed, the more thunderous they became. Ayumi looked up and saw exactly what Sasuke was talking about when a giant dragon of lightning could be seen prancing about in the clouds. She had never seen a lightning attack that large before in her life. It dwarfed even her Limelight Jutsu, which is supposed to be the strongest Lightning Style Jutsu in existence. She knew that if something like that were to hit here, not even she would survive.
"What is that?" She asked. Sasuke smirked as he dug his sword deeper into his leg. This was his final trick, "That is your death. It is a lightning jutsu that I created years ago. Its name is Kirin. You should've been more careful with that fire and lightning you were using earlier. It set the stage for this happen. My Kirin has all of the residual chakra and natural energy that was created from of your jutsu. It is 10x bigger than when I used it on Itachi during our battle, which was strong enough to demolish a mountain. Ayumi Uchiha, Kirin will come crashing down to obliterate the field and end your life."
"You can't! Something that big wouldn't just kill us, everyone all around us will be killed by it. Not even Itachi could survive that now that his Susanoo is destroyed." Ayumi warned.
"Why do you think I stabbed my blade through your shoulder? It's going to serve as a lightning rod and make sure the entirety of the attack goes just to us. I am going to take you down with me. Chidori!" Sasuke shouted as he began to command the lightning dragon.
"You will regret this! No one can stop me!" Ayumi yelled dramatically.
"Be gone! Kirin!" Sasuke said as his dragon started its decent. The air became thick with electricity as Kirin got closer and closer. Ayumi was forced to activate a jutsu she had been saving as a last resort, "I will not perish from this!"
Kirin touched down on their location and what followed it was a flash of blue light that encased the sky. Then an explosion riveted the area and left the fight in a state of unknown. The Leaguers and Team both watched on in awe as the dragon made its will known. As ferocious as it all was, it all ended in an instant.
"What's going on?" Rocket asked with concern for Itachi and Sasuke.
"I don't know. One second, there was a great dragon in the sky and the next…nothing." Conner answered.
"Are they…are they alive?" Artemis asked as she began to tear up. Martian Manhunter and Superman both went to work to get an answer, "They're alive. All of them! I can hear all of their breathing."
"Sasuke and Itachi seem to be unconscious though. The Stranger…is moving. It didn't work. She's heading towards Itachi!" J'onn said.
That was all everyone needed to hear before they went on the move. Back on the battlefield, a badly injured Ayumi was barely still standing just as J'onn said. She saw an unconscious Sasuke and spat blood at him. Her body was out of chakra so there was no healing her wounds.
'If I hadn't used the Demonic Resurgence Jutsu, I'd be dead. But I used all of my chakra to produce a blast powerful enough to shield be from his attack. I can't even summon sword or activate my Sharingan. Darn it, that was supposed to be my main way out. To think that he'd possess something that powerful. I'd kill him right now if I believed I had enough time. That's what I need…time. All I have to do is take Itachi before the other heroes get here and disappear using my teleportation seal. I must hurry…they are on the way. The Reset can still…happen. I can still…win this for you…my son.' She thought desperately.
"We…our love…is eternal. No one will tear us apart again." She whispered to herself as she got to Itachi's motionless form. It turns out, Sasuke was indeed correct. He used his sword to redirect the attack to only affect himself and Ayumi. It's the only reason Itachi was still alive.
She finally made her way to him just as the heroes were about to reach the scene. She smirked at them as she reveled in their failure, "Too late. Itachi is mine and the world…is over."
"Nooo!" Artemis shouted.
Ayumi turned him over to look at his face but that's when her world came crashing down when Itachi's body burst into a flock of crows. The flock then came together in front of her and rematerialized back into Itachi except now, he had his brother's sword in his hand. He glared down at her before stabbing her in the chest, "No…the only thing that is over is you…mother."
She started coughing up blood and started to feel really cold all of a sudden. The others halted in place as they saw Itachi run Ayumi through with his brother's sword. They were just glad he was alive. Ayumi had tears in her eyes as more blood started leaking from her wound.
"You…were never unconscious…were you?" She asked through shallow breaths. Itachi shook his head as he drove the sword deeper into her chest, "No, I wasn't, but that is because I was dead. I took the brunt of your attack to protect my brother and lost my life. Sasuke saw this, but he knew there was a way to both bring me back and weaken you enough for me to finish the job. Sasuke lied when he told you that none of the lightning would hit me. He used small stream of lightning as a de facto defibrillator to bring me back. When he did, I just needed to wait for my moment. Our bond as brothers is what defeated you, Ayumi. Maybe if you actually had a bond with me, and not just some unnatural need to control me, you would've seen it coming. It doesn't matter now…you've lost."
"I see…I'm sorry. I'm your mother. It is my job to protect you…but I almost killed you. Please…please…forgive me." She begged as the tears started to flow.
Her words shocked Itachi. Here he was getting ready to cast her down and all she can do was ask for forgiveness for almost killing him. It showed him that she really did care for him, even if it was in a warped way. Itachi was about to pulled the sword out of her chest to end this but she put a hand up to stop him, "Wait, I have something to tell you…in private."
Itachi saw that his friends were quickly approaching and obliged her request, "…very well. Tsukuyomi!" It was only an instant, but they had teleported to Itachi's genjutsu world. When they got there, Ayumi told him her secret. Itachi dropped to his knees in shock, not wanting to believe it. But he knew that she wasn't lying. It left him devastated. Itachi ended the genjutsu as almost as soon as it began and pulled the sword out of her chest.
"You…truly are a hateful person." Itachi said. Ayumi laughed, "I guess you're right. I told you already. There are so many ways I can go about getting the change I want. The Reset…was just the way I felt that didn't lead to too much heartbreak. I…never planned on just leaving it up to a fist fight with you. My grandfather told me that you always have to have…an ace in the hole. And mine…is lying down in that ship. You can do what you want with my secret, but know this; if you tell her the truth, you will lose her to me and if you don't, then you will go right back to living in a lie just like you were in the Shinobi World. Only this time, the lie won't just be yours…it'll be someone else's. You'll be like a bird that's trapped in a cage, only you have the key to the door but will refuse to escape because you know it will mean that another bird will take your place. The seeds have already been planted though…so you better hurry and make a decision…before a blood flower is born. Because once it is born…it won't be stopped until all life is dead. That is your choice; to love one or to love all."
"Hurry up and die already." Itachi said with disdain. She smiled at him again, "Remember what I said about having an ace in the hole…well, maybe next time you will. Teleportation Jutsu."
The teleportation seal Ayumi had prepared for just in case of her loss activated and engulfed her body in black smoke. Itachi knew that there was no stopping it and made no attempts at it.
'She's done fighting…and so am I.' Itachi thought stoically. He knew that they both had no chakra left.
He merely stared at her and she stared back, both with sad looks on their faces from Ayumi's secret. It was then that Itachi knew that she did not want it to come to this. She placed her hand on Itachi face one last time before she disappeared, "Goodbye Itachi, my son. I love you."
"Goodbye Ayumi…" Itachi said before allowing exhaustion to take him. He faintly heard the others make their way to him ask if he was okay, but he had no energy left to talk. Ayumi's revelation to him left him shook and almost completely took away his will to live. Artemis began to perform CPR as he went into shock, nut nothing worked. Itachi looked at his brother's form and deactivated his Sharingan.
He smiled as he saw movement in his brother's chest. But Itachi looked over to Carson's direction and, to the shock of Artemis and the rest of his friends, shed a tear. He just wanted to sleep. And the Sage of Six Paths granted him his wish as his friends screams of fear slowly faded away.
That's it for this chapter guys! Not as fast as I wanted it to be done, but still a lot quicker than before. I had to leave it on a cliffhanger this time. Ayumi has finally been defeated. Itachi and Sasuke saved both of their worlds, but based on the ending, Itachi now feels like he's truly lost everything and has wished for an end. I know what Ayumi told him, but I wanted to leave it a secret for storytelling purposes. Let you guys guess it like with the Masked Stranger's identity. How was that fight though?! Was it epic or was it epic, lol. It felt good writing it. A good ole fashioned all out fight between shinobi is always a joy to write. Itachi and Sasuke are still undefeated though. I hope I gave both of them enough moments in the fight so that no one looks CW Superman weak. I hate what they did to him. But with this chapter, only 2 are left; the final chapter and its epilogue which will be used as a bridge to go right into this story's sequel, which will cover season 2 of Young Justice. I'm so glad that so many of you have stuck with this from the very beginning. While it may not have always been smooth, I'm glad I put actions to my words and went through with this.
