Underleague

Chapter 35

Author Notes: So ladies and gents we're back. Last time we started our battle with Robin(finally!) And now we have reached part 2(and hopefully only a part 2!)

Soon, very soon my dears, we shall see if Frisk is able to earn badge number 2~ If not well...we got filler chappys planned lol. I do not own Undertale or Pokemon.

3rd P.O.V

"Alright Frisk, it's time for my next pokemon, are you going to switch out or are you going to keep Pincer in?" Humming Frisk meets her newly evolved kingler's gaze. Though it was a bit difficult to actually see the crustacean's expression, he raised his large claw with a battle cry.

Despite the hits he took, he was more than ready to go for another round. Smiling, the young trainer nods, before once more looking up towards her opponent. "I'm keeping Pincer in!"

Already the ice gym leader had his second pokeball in hand, only waiting for her confirmation before throwing it high into the air. "Let's go snover!" His game face returned in a swift motion as a new pokemon was revealed. Frisk's deus ex machina pinging as another pokemon entry was in the process of being recorded.

Snover the frost tree pokemon and the pre-evolved form of Abomasnow. These pokemon live on snowy mountains where the temperatures are low. Embedding their roots into the ground, they absorb water and other vital nutrients to grow fruit during the spring season.

Robin pats his pokemon gently on the head. "Snover here is my assistant when it comes to making my Nice Creams, so get ready Frisk-because you've seen nothing yet!" At the end of his statement, the ten year old felt something cold land gently on her nose, startling her.

"Huh?" Tilting her head upwards, her eyes widen as she feels hard specs of ice fall. "Snow?" Her face scrunches in confusion, causing her friend turned opponent to chuckle. "Snover's ability is snow warning, where their body temperature is so cold, that they're actually able to freeze the moisture in the air."

Outside under normal circumstances, their ability wouldn't last for more then a few turns since heat rises up. The moisture and slightly warmer temperature would actually re-hydrate the little hail balls snovers create before evaporating altogether. Things were different in the Underground however.

The entire league was within a huge, long cave. Tall enough and big enough to house an entire civilization full of people and pokemon, but small enough to where weather based environments were more extreme, making weather based moves last longer.

Here...Robin took full advantage of the freezing temperatures. Having had many years of planning out strategies and adapting to the cold, he was more than eager to show his opponent a thing or two.

"You ok Pincer?" A small whine escaped the kingler, his body shuddering from the falling hail landing on his shell. His trainer shivering alongside him as Frisk was easily able to feel the degrees drop down a few notches.

Despite the extra training time with Peter, and reading Rosemary's book, Frisk still felt unprepared. This battle seemed way more intense compared to the battle with her mom's team.

The pressure was on. "We're ok...we can do this." She knew fully well that the gym leader had the type advantage, however she had to think about the battle as a whole. The rookie pokekid had no idea how many pokemon her opponent had for their battle.

Yes, she had quite a few pokemon that are diverse to the various types, but Robin was an expert battler, and as Rosemary's old student, he knew his way around overcoming the odds. She had to play safe, have her pokemon endure and dwindle the strength of his pokemon as much as possible.

Allen was already knocked unconscious from the battle with piloswine. And though Pincer did manage to get revenge on his comrade, took a few hits, on top of adjusting with his evolution.

Catching her concerned gaze he raised his claw with a shout. More than prepared to fight to the faint! "Ok Pincer, let's do this! Use metal claw!" She had to move fast-the last thing she wanted was to risk a grass attack.

So she decided to use her kinglers new strength to their advantage in the hopes of ending this match right here and now. Scuttling onto the sleek snow, Pincer hurries, hardening his big heavy claw as it drags along the ground.

Robin doesn't make a sound, only narrowing his eyes and that left the rookie girl puzzled. He's not calling out a counter attack, or even a dodge! He kept his gaze on the two pokemon, just watching.

Warning signals were going off in her head...why wasn't he doing anything? Frightened at the possibility that she made a mistake she called out to her pokemon, hoping to get him to stop. But it was too little too late.

"Leech seed." Just when the kingler raised his overgrown limb, ready to smash the moving tree pokemon, the snover shoots from its needles large, vine covered seeds. It was at point blank range, making it impossible to miss or avoid. "Kreeeeee!"

Upon impact Pincer recoils before becoming completely ensnared in vines. "No!" Frisk's concerns were realized as her pokemon falters, his heavy pincer dropping and thereby forcing him to skid slightly backwards.

It was just the opportunity Robin had been waiting for. "Now use ingrain snover." While Frisk panicked over her crabby crustacean, Robin continues setting up. Smiling as his pokemon firmly sends his roots into the ground, breaking through the thick layers of ice.

"Hit them with a blizzard! Don't let them recover." Within an instant Frisk covers her face, shivering as her and her friend get blasted with even harsher winter storm. The winds so strong and fierce that Pincer was sliding backwards despite his heavy build.

Even worse, the hail that was falling before now smacked into him in a frenzy of weighted chunks. "S-s-stay strong Pincer!" He didn't faint, but it was hurting, and he was freezing. "Use s-stomp to push yourself f-f-forward-then achooO! Mm-metal claw!" Determined to fight the odds, the stubborn kingler obeys.

His thin legs slamming into the cold, white surface to move, his bigger claw acting as an anchor to keep him from being sent backwards. Robin watched intrigued, admiring the pair's strong will to keep going and adapt.

Still, it seemed his challenger didn't quite understand that sometimes the best offense was a good defense and counter. So he decided it was time to teach her that lesson the best way he knew how.

Once more Pincer got close, and again Robin said nothing, patiently standing by. Again Frisk backtracked, knowing now he was up to something, and switched moves. Just then-her voice and Robins' collided as they shouted out their commands.

"Mud shot then metal claw!"

"Snover use giga drain."

Both were too close for either of them to miss. As snover absorbed kingler's energy, he also got mud spewed into his eyes before receiving a painful smack into the side, shooting off into the sky.

The two opposing pokemon fall in a heap, as their human companions watch with bated breath. "Pincer! Please get up!" Who was going to get up first...if at all? A moment passed, then another with no movement despite the pair of trainers calling their names.

Then, one rose, shakily from the ground, swaying slightly as he tried to recover. "Pincer is knocked out. Snover wins." Frisk ran up to her pokemon, rubbing his shell as he whined in pain.

It hurt seeing him like this, but she had to stay strong, she fought the tears, instead giving her friend a proud smile. "Awesome job Pincer, you get some rest ok?" He gurgled before returning to his pokeball.

Standing back up, Frisk takes out another pokeball, clenching it tightly into her fingers. "What's your next pokemon Frisk? Thanks to snover's ingrain I can't switch him out, so we're waiting on you."

Biting her lip, she throws out the next one, feeling a bit unsure with her decision. "Come on Pikaboo!" This would be her first time battling officially with the ghost/fairy type. And frankly she had no idea how well Pikaboo would do.

The little mimikyu was swaying back and forth when she came out, as happy as ever, before scuttling up to her trainer. Making a happy little sound, Pikaboo rubbed her cloaked head against Frisk's leg, offering comfort and support.

A tiny smile rose to her face as she thanks her pokemon, giving a gentle pet to the head to show her gratitude. "I'm counting on you Pikaboo." Confirming her choice, Robin nodded.

"If you're good to go with your choice, then I think I'll start this match. Snover use giga drain!" Though the tree pokemon was still enduring pain from the last battle, he obeyed with ease, hoping to get some much needed strength back. "Pikaboo look out!"

However even though it was a direct hit, the tiny, mischievous pokemon took no damage, surprising everyone. "What the-?" Robin saw long black claws come out from beneath the mimikyu and with what sounded like...demented, high pitched giggles, just started scratching the ground.

Frisk was confused, it was really weird how her newest addition to her family was. "Um...Pikaboo?" Every time they did a training session, or in general was released from her pokeball, Pikaboo would always start digging into the ground.

Robin knew very well what she was doing, and suddenly shivered. His felt an immense aura of hatred and sadism coming from his opponent's pokemon, leaving him downright stunned.

Frisk unaware of Robins' reaction, turned back to her rather affectionate companion. Gleefully shrieking Pikaboo raised her claws, showing them off to her trainer. They were nice and sharp, sparkling even in a hailstorm.

And that gesture sparked a bit of confidence into the newcomer. "Pikaboo-use shadow sneak." Not even a second and the disturbing...creature slinked into the darkness. Unable to be found as the cave and blizzard kept her hidden well.

Feeling intense fear and dread in the pit of his trunk, snover panicked. Looking in all directions, and it snapped Robin out of his frozen state. "Calm down snover! The moment mimikyu pops up to attack, blast it away with blizzard." That was the plan, but Pikaboo was too quick.

Too sneaky, she sprang up right after Robins command, startling everyone when the heavy 113 pound tree went flying from such a tiny, barely two pound enemy. "Snover!" Robin winced when he landed harshly into the ground, cracking an easy two layers of ice.

His terrified gaze was now a mess of swirls. Robin shook his head, pitying his poor pokepartner...neither were really prepared for such an encounter. "You did your best snover. Take a good long rest."

Hopping up and down Pikaboo screeches gleefully as snover got returned. "Wow Pikaboo! That was incredible!" So full of joy and an aura so bright, you would never think of it as an embodiment of evil.

To be continued
