Hello everyone! Wow you guys are really excited for this to continue! So I made this my top priority on the list this week next to my youtube video. Hope you all enjoy!
Disclaimer: I don't own this show. Just the idea. And the oc's.
Darkus rises
Fabia was ready for Jakes next attack, her and Arranot were already on the move. The next thing Jake knew he was on the ground and defeated.
"Phew. Fabia stated. " You really had me on my toes in that round. Great job Jake!" She offered a hand to help him up with.
"Yeah well, I was trained by the best." Jake retorted after she pulled him up, but then looked sad for a second remembering just who that was.
"Want to check on Marucho and see how things are coming? We could probably grab a bite afterwords." Fabia tried to keep both of their minds off of the topic. They needed to keep pushing forward, both of them.
"Yeah, but maybe food first." Jake said with as much cheer as he could. Fabia smiled at agreed and they were off to the dinning hall.
-With Daniel -
Darkus wasn't nearly as hard as he thought it would be. He didn't know why he was so scared of it. After a couple rounds of getting to know his new partner Daniel and Malvariod were already starting to sync up. They practiced for another hour before the other Gundalians got there. Daniel could honestly say he was ready for this class. He stood across his first opponent, grinning while thinking how fun it will be to wipe the floor with this kid.
- With Kazarina and Borodiuse-
They were watching Dan practice from her lab monitors. It was surprising when he managed to pull out combination moves like he had been using Darkus this entire time.
"This is unbelievable. Here we thought he was going to struggle but he is picking everything up in a matter of minutes." Emperor Borodiuse stated, completely dumbfounded by this development.
"And his pain censors seem to be indicating that he is settling. It seems Dan's ability to cope with all the elements is helping him with adjusting to his new life. But do you see these readings here?" Kazarina pointed to another screen that Barodiuse hadn't seen before.
"What is this?"
"This indicates power levels. I made a simple wrist watch for Dan to wear so I could monitor his levels." She said with a grin. Barodiuse turned to her.
"But he is not a bakugan. He shouldn't have a power level." He wanted to believe that, but her screen said otherwise.
"Yes, but he does. He has a connection to all of the elements and I have reason to believe it goes deeper then that even." She smiled at the prospect of even more to discover. Barodiuse understood how Dan had a connection to the elements through Drago, he even understood that it meant Dan had a special connection to all elements like all brawlers have with their one element due to it. But he never considered the possibility that Dan actually had powers he himself can use beyond that. But the screen didn't lie. While Dan was calling out his combos there were spikes in the power readings. Barodius wasn't one for science but this was more then enough to convince him.
"What do you intend to do with this knowledge Kazarina?" He asked, hoping the answer wouldn't be something insane.
"I plan to approach him about it so I can see just how far it goes outside of a brawl." His eyes widened.
"You mean, to see if he could be a weapon in and of himself?" He wouldn't lie, he liked the idea. It would give them a completely new kind of edge against the Neithians and the Brawlers the kid use to lead. It would be something new entirely.
"Yes precisely. Although partly because I want to see if it is a possibility that humans can manifest these abilities on their own or through their partner too. I have plenty of human test subjects that I can use for that though. First I need to understand everything there is to know about Dan's powers." She said while tapping at some screens. She hadn't mentioned his mental abilities yet. She knows Dan has them, and she fully intends on exploring them with him. But the Emporer wouldn't be interested in it. It would have nothing to do with his army or conquest so there was no need to bring it up. She was lucky this conversation was going as well as it was. Sometimes he could be rather … unpredictable.
"Go ahead and proceed with bringing it up to the boy. But remember to watch your tongue. And you are only aloud to monitor, not inject or harm. Understood?" He made sure she knew her boundaries.
"Understood sire." She bowed as he left the room. She came back up smirking. Oh this will be fun!
-With Daniel-
"Man this is getting too easy. Are you sure you're not newbies." The new Darkus brawler called out to the 4 other Gundalians he just beat. They were said to be on the same level as him, and although he vaguely remembers their names and faces from years ago, he was never very close with them. The hateful expressions they were giving him the whole training session seemed to say they never liked him either. He didn't really care what they thought though. If he was better then them, they needed to know that. Only the toughest survive around here and he was the unofficial prince of these pathetic people, therefore he had to be the toughest.
"Watch your tongue, or else you might regret it. Being too haughty isn't a good quality." Malvaroid stated to her partner. She knew this was new to him but he needed to have balance. That's what she was here for.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm not trying to be a royal pain but these guys are supposed to be on the same level as me right? And this is our first time brawling together and my first time using Darkus which is normally my opposite, so why doesn't it feel like much of a challenge?" He asked her. He got his answer from someone else.
"Perhaps we underestimated how well you would adapt to Darkus. If it is a challenge you want, I can give you one." A Gundalian had said as he stepped up next to and then past the other Gundalians. They moved back to let him take on Daniel. Daniel on the other hand lost his smirk in seconds upon recognizing him. The man was tall with blonde hair in a low ponytail with a green stripe through it on the side of his left shoulder, he had blue tinted skin, he had the clothes of a Gundalian solider who was regarded highly. Nothing too flashy but definatley not the standard solider attire, meaning he wasn't someone to be taken lightly. He wore a smirk that said "you're about to eat those words kid".
In short, he was his dad. Not his royal father, but the one who raised him since he found him when he was 7. And by the looks of it, he was here to teach him a lesson. Daniel squared his shoulders and stood straighter. He has to focus. There was no way he was going to let his own dad beat him publicly.
"Hows mom?" He asked to start of the banter.
"Willma's proud of you. But she wants to know when you will be coming home to visit. Personally I don't mind you staying here. Not until your performance last night that is." Chiron replied.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Daniel asked agitated. The previous night was an embarrassment. He hated that the older Gundalian knew about it already.
"You're about to find out. Just because you are having a good time with this new element doesn't mean you get to have all the fun." He grabbed his Aquas bakugan ready to battle.
"Bring it on goldylocks." Daniel quipped. His dad has always made it a point to have fun so long as he didn't loose his focus. Something his other father didn't always agree with but never made a fuss about. Insults were the best ways to start a match.
-Later-
The battle was starting to get more intense, Daniel and Mavaloid had more then a couple close calls. He was getting ready to block another Aquas attack from his dad, but it didn't come. In fact it never even released.
"Hey! What ( pants) gives?!" The young prince shouted.
"I think that's enough for today son. I'll wipe the floor with you some other time." Chiron said, knowing his answer wasn't going to be received well.
"No. We are (pants) finishing this!"
"No we are not. You're still under a medical condition and it's clear it's taking it's toll. We will resume this fight another time." Chiron stated. His son wasn't one to back down easily, so he knew he was right when Daniel didn't argue back anymore. He was panting, sweat running down his face, and he looked like he might pass out anytime. He pushed him further then he had originally planned to today, but the Emporer's orders were to stop only if he saw the red flashing light from the monitor start to go off. And it was. Plus he himself was a little worried about his son's condition. He kept rubbing his temple every now and again and he was panting and sweating far more then he should be.
Chiron made his way over to Daniel. The brunette was sitting on a bench since the other Gundalian spectators had left and the auditorium was now empty. He could hear his son's new partner asking if he could stand yet. When he got there it seemed the boy had calmed down and got his breath back but he still looked a little pale and uneasy.
"Are you dizzy?" He asked.
"... a little."
"How's the pain?"
"Back with a vengeance." His tone was bitter. Chiron couldn't blame him.
"Well let's get you some rest then." Dan just nodded and walked beside him back to his room in the palace. They were quite for the most part. Daniel tried to ask him a question but he got shushed every time he tried to speak. Typical Chiron, acting like a tough guy for the public but soft as pudding when someone close to him was in pain. Gundailians couldn't show weakness in public, but in private was a different story. Just because the Generals were all backstabbing jerks didn't mean every warrior was like that. In fact that's the only reason he was allowed to live at all. Chiron's soft side and the Emporer's trust in him. It's said that friends are liability, but it didn't mean no higher ups had them. Those relationships were just kept quite whenever they formed. Chiron and Borodius's were one of those low key relationships.
They got into this room and Daniel went straight for the shower. He was surprised his dad was still there when he got out. He was pretty sure he muttered a 'thank you' before he went into the bathroom.
"You're still here?" Daniel asked, making the blonde turn his head from the window to him.
"Yes. How is your head feeling?" He asked his son.
"Better now, the shower helped. Say why does everyone keep looking out my window today?" The now clean brunette asked. Chiron was slow to answer.
"I'm going to assume no one has given you the news yet." He said as he watched Daniel take his medication.
"You mean the break in? Of course I know, I was there."
"No. Not about the break in. About the explosion in station 4 region R." Chiron stated. Daniels face fell.
"What?" Came his short clipped answer. His calmed heart rate skyrocketed. There was no way...
There was a sigh from the older Gundalian and the boys worry only grew.
This whole day had felt off to him. He couldn't place why other then the fact that he had a concussion and had lost his partner in a brutal attack the previous night. His memory had cleared up some after super, after he had a couple battles. But the feeling that something wasn't right was still gnawing at him. When his dad stopped the battle it was probably for the best. He was having flashes of that dream again when the pain started getting bad. He was fine with ignoring them in favor to get stronger, but now another thought that scared him was starting to form. And his dad not looking him in the eye wasn't helping his suspicions.
"DAD. What happened?!" The air was tense. Chiron finally looked his son dead in the eye and ripped the bandage off.
"No one who lived there survived it." Daniel felt like the oxygen had left the room. He couldn't breathe. He knelt to the floor and grabbed his bedsheets in a fist before he could fall over. There was ...now way... this could be happening. Chiron stayed quite as he let the information sink in.
"Why?" He finally heard Daniel ask. The question was so pained he almost didn't want to answer it.
"Because the Terrans and the Neithians found out you were the prince. They allied themselves with some Gundalians who hated you to find out where your friends lived and placed explosives all around that area with a trigger switch in case they failed in their efforts in kidnapping you."
He hated them. He hated them. He hated them. He couldn't stop the anger or the tears. Why? Just because Gundalia is better then them? Just because he might become heir to the throne one day? Just because they didn't like him? They already took his partner, did they really have to take everyone he cared about from the Rundon area too? The pain wasn't in his head anymore, it was in his chest, and it was far worse. He screamed, he punched his headboard so hard it split. Malvaroid even fell off of the table in surprise.
His dad had never seen him so angry. But he didn't blame him. This was war, and this was always a possibility in war. He sat and let him display his grief. He silently swore to himself that he would help his son in anyway possible.
"I was wrong." He heard his son growl out. "They are not just scum. They are downright putrid vile that must be eliminated from history altogether. THEY. WILL. PAY."
-On neithia in the medical bay-
Drago was still out cold. The nurse came through and checked on him every now and then. But nothing changed.
Then after the nurse left for the night something did change. Drago twitched. And then for a short time he glowed. Something was wrong. He could feel it in his comma, deep within him self. But he is unable to express anything to anyone in his current state. The Darkus element within himself was pulsing, and he felt a rage like none other pouring through it.
And there you have it! Thank you for all of the positive responses for this story! I never imagined it would get this much attention! Until next time!
