So I started this intending it to be a drabble for my collectionThat's How We Roll but it got waaaaaaaaaay longer then planned so I'm going to post it as a separate one shot here. I really hope you enjoy it, and I really hope you review.
This is dedicated to: BELVITA breakfast biscuits and Clear American sparkling water because they kept me awake when I wrote this. Also the awesome people of Twitter.
She's at his door at six forty-five in the morning, far earlier then normal for their usual car pool, and as Kensi lifts her fist to knock he is suddenly there opening the door before she has a chance too.
"Hey." Is the first word out his mouth, the same sweet smile he had last night lining his face, with the new addition of dark circles beneath his eyes.
"Hey." Is her response, uncertainty over how to handle this pulsing through her. They've done this a thousand times, her picking him up, but never recently. Recently their mornings have consisted of hazy hellos, slow kisses, and warm arms wrapped around each other.
One hand lifts to his scruff lightly scratching it, before he opens the door wider inviting her in. "I missed you." He murmurs as she walks by him, and settles a hand on the small of her back as he shuts the door.
They sit on the couch and instantly his hands are linked with hers, and he's tugging her closer, brushing his lips against her cheeks, forehead, nose, before he finally, blissfully settles on her mouth.
Minutes pass before they pull back, panting, Deeks' hair mussed from the raking of her fingers.
"Oh God, I missed you." He whispers, breath hot across her swollen lips. "H-how was your off night."
"Okay." She shrugs. "I actually enjoyed the space, until..."
"Until?" He dips his head to evaluate her expression, and Kensi shakes her head.
"See Kens," A small sigh falls out and he's holding her hands again, squeezing the fingers lightly. "You can tell me anything, no matter what. That's the thing about being a couple, we don't keep secrets."
"I thought that was partners."
"Touchè, but we are partners aren't we? What happened last night, Kens?"
She purses her lips and scoots back on his couch, pressing her back to the cushions. "It was fine, I took a bath, watched TV, ate ice cream, then I went to bed."
"And?" He presses her.
"I tried to spread out, I couldn't and I missed having you there."
"So you're saying you missed me." His eyes twinkle at her.
"Don't push it, Beach Boy. I said I missed your warmth." She warns
"Actually I'm pretty sure that you said you missed me."
"Deeks."
He grins and leans back in kissing her briefly. "You know I wanted to tell you something, Kensalina."
"Hmm?" She raises her eyebrows as the grin drops from his face, a serious expression replacing it.
"Just something you said yesterday. You know I accept all of you, right."
Kensi's eyes narrow. "You don't need to do this, Deeks. I was joking."
"I know, but I still want you to know. You're you, and I wouldn't want anyone else."
Smiling she tilts her back, resting it on his shoulder and slides closer, their shoulders and hips now touching. "There's something I need to say too."
Now it's his turn too glance at her questioningly. "What?"
"What I said yesterday about being happy, that didn't come out right and-"
"Kens," He stops her. "We're over this, don't worry about it."
"No, I need to say this, before I get scared and back off." Licking her lips, she squeezes her eyes tightly shut and braces herself. "I meant what I said, it's a different kind of happy. When I'm with Kat, Mindy, Mandy, Tiffany, and Tiffany, I can laugh, be silly, light, things I don't get very often."
"You always laugh with me." He murmurs softly.
"And I do, but with you its different. Everything is so, so deep. Even the tiniest of gestures feel like they mean so much, and well I can be silly around you, I don't want to be silly with you. This means too much for that." Taking a deep breath, she looks to Deeks finding his expression impossible to read. "I guess what I'm trying to say is, my happiness with them is short, sweet, and easy. With you its fulfilling, meaningful, something I feel all the time now, something I don't want to ever lose, and that's why we should be careful, so we don't lose this, because if this happiness ever went away, I'd know something was wrong."
His hand comes to rest on her cheek, thumb caressing her cheekbone. "Thank you." He whispers, dropping his head to rest his forehead against her neck.
Sighing she loops her around his back, just his goes to her waist, pulling her closer. "You should get ready for work."
"Yeah." He pulls back, rubs a hand over his jaw. "You know I said a night off every now and then, so?" He trails off and meets her amused gaze.
"I'll be over tonight, don't worry. I had trouble sleeping too." Heaving herself up, she pulls Deeks off the couch with her. "C'mon, you should shower."
Heading towards his bathroom, he pauses to smirk at her. "Want to join me?"
"Maybe next time." Watching him away concern fills her. "Hey, Deeks?"
"Yeah?" He turns back to her, his hand ruffling his hair.
Coming up to him, Kensi rests her hands on his chest. "Are you okay?"
He breaths deeply through his nose, and pain flickers through his blue eyes, suddenly his hands are on her, pulling her against him, his nose can nuzzling into her hair.
Kensi can feel him taking deep breaths of her smell, his fingers lightly kneading the skin of her hips, as he reassures himself that she's really there.
"I'm okay now that you're here." Deeks whispers, sending vibrations through her body as she too wraps her arms around him, pressing her hands between his shoulder blades.
"I'm not leaving." She drops a kiss to his neck, and holds him tighter and they stay in his hallway, locked together, keeping the world out.
Thanks for reading and please review! They make my day.
