Attention: The following story is based off Generation X, and the timeline that is known as the Cale Storyline. It takes place approximately two months after the events of X-Knights: The First Month.
Chapter 2: Surprise Attack
I. Everett
Everett Thomas turned just after the door had exploded, since the chunk of door that went past him took out a good portion of the little demons that had invaded the school. He would have been thankful for that, except what he saw in the place of the door was not a good sight at all. The fact that the front door was in pieces, with only just the hinges holding only a splinter of wood was the least disturbing part of what he saw.
The two figures that were entering through the hole were obviously twins, and were both built in the same build as sumo wrestlers. They both had a look of delight on their faces, which told Everett that the two of them were enjoying all the mayhem that was happening. He was also certain that they were mutants, but he could not be certain what their powers might be.
The next figure he saw entering was Arisa, the escapee from the jail. Appearing all around her were more of the little demons that had been attacking. They way they appeared so effortlessly must have meant that they were very minor beings. He knew she was capable of summoning more powerful demons, so she was either ordered not to, or the little demons might be some sort of distraction, or worse, a test.
The next figure he saw was that of a Japanese man. He wore some sort of glasses, and had some sort of odd suit on him. He even noticed what looked like a glow around the man's hands, which he could only guess was linked to his powers. He could also tell the man gave off an aura of command, which made the scene more disturbing. It meant that their initial assumption about who had broke Arisa out of jail were wrong. They were dealing with a new threat.
The most disturbing figure, however, was in the back, and it was one he recognized. It was Victor Creed, the psychopath known to the world as Sabretooth. None of the students would be prepared for his brand of mayhem, and that could cost them their lives. He still remembered the injuries he had gotten at the hands of Sabretooth all those years ago. He even remembered the blast his wife and Richard had created at the time.
Just the thought of that moment made him focus on his wife. Over their years together, they had formed a mental link like Richard and Yvette had. He knew of her fear of Sabretooth, and held her when nightmares woke her. Now he felt the fear coming from her, and he knew it only escalated the terror of the situation. He also knew that the building terror was not good for the life that was growing in her. No doubt it was fear for that life that was making his wife's fear intensify.
He was so lost on that thought, that he was almost taken off guard when Allen Aaron vaulted in front of him, and made a bee-line for the two twins. It was obvious that Allen thought he could take on the two. He even watched as the boy transformed out of the armored form he preferred, and into a form the boy usually wouldn't take. Since everyone knew about Allen's sensitivity to any form of light, the muscle bound form the boy now took was out of character, but given what they were facing, it might be the most effective. He just hoped that was the case.
II. Kain
Kain looked over the chaos with his brother, Abyl, and was pleased. When Dio had said that this mission was only to judge their quarry, he knew that this would only be the precursor, and that no one would be able to figure out the secret of their powers. It would be almost impossible, given all that was already happening to the quarry. For now, however, the plan was to cause as much chaos as possible, and judge what their quarry could do. As Kain figured, this was a typical Dio plan of attack.
Much to his surprise, Kain saw the first surprise when an armored form jumped between them, and a man of African decent. While the action of the figure jumping into battle against him didn't bother him, the fact that the figure looked like an armored knight was almost disturbing. That armor would not allow the fluid movement the man was making, and it also looked so damn familiar.
After brief moment, he heard his brother exclaim, "You know, Kain, this fool looks like that knight from that one difficult game. You remember what happens when he gets hit?" The question made him smile a sadistic smile. There was no doubt in his mind that they held the upper hand now.
Kain charged the figured from behind, simple saying, "Indeed I do. Let's see if it will happen here." It was with the last word that he connected with the knight's back. The result was what both twins expected. Instantly, the armor disappeared, and the figure collapsed to the ground. Kain was even surprised to see the now unconscious figure transform yet again into a knocked out, teenage boy.
He stared for a moment, debating if they would do worse to the boy, but Kain remembered Dio's orders. Dio had wanted to avoid any unnecessary killing. The only one that would be allowed a kill was Sabretooth, and by the looks of things, they saw he was already heading towards the target he wanted to get. Even from their vantage point, Kain and his brother could tell the woman was scared.
Kain took a few seconds to decide who their next target should be. He wasn't overly worried about the teachers, but he figured they knew how to handle themselves in a fight. The students, however, were a different story. They're powers were unknown, but from the looks of how some of them were hanging back, it was possible that their powers were useless in combat. They would be perfect targets.
He pointed over at one dark skinned girl, and said, "Let's take care of her first. Something tells me she'll fall quite easily." The other twin nodded, and they both started to head towards the teenage girl of African decent. She was trying to shoo away more of Arisa's little demons, and she would not expect the threat they were. They just had to hope no one would be doing anything to stop them from their next target.
III. Kevin M.
Kevin Mitchel was having a difficult time, and that was all because of everything that was going on. Being one of the junior leaders of the students at the Cale Institute came with the responsibility of being looked to for direction during a fight. This was difficult with all the little demons flying about, and it only got worse when more attackers came in.
He had seen what had happened between Aaron and the two twin attackers. They didn't seem to break a sweat when they attacked him. Now they were both heading towards Tasha, and a brief glance over at James told him that the Prince was starting to worry. His teammate and friend was at a disadvantage at the moment, since there was no running water, or water in any form about.
He also noticed that the big scary looking brute was starting to make his way to his one teacher, Jubilation Thomas. What made the sight more unnerving was the look of pure fear on her face. He had a feeling it was one that meant that his teacher had met with this bloke before. This was bad, especially as the others were dealing with all the other attacks.
He then noticed a common thing in the room that no one would have taken notice of. The foyer had a carpet all over the place. That could be a saving grace, especially with the scariest figure heading up the steps now. He quickly knelt down and touched the carpet. In a matter of moments, the carpet started to change into a frictionless surface. The only unfortunate thing about it was that he couldn't remove his hands until the transformation was complete.
Kevin glanced around as the transformation happened, and noticed that the figure that was climbing the steps literally slipped, fell, and slid down to the bottom. As it happened, he heard Darrett shout, "Nice work, Switchover. I think you tripped a few of them up. Now go help Allen. Those two brutes don't look to be phased by the change in surface." He glance over at the twin brutes, and noticed that they stuck close to one another. Was there a reason for that?
He then made his way down to the two brutes, trying to think of what he should change, and what to change it into to handle the two. He got to the main floor, and glanced back to the others on the second floor. To his shock, he saw Clarice was frozen in shock. He saw that the big scary brute had done one hell of a jump and was now at the top of the steps. Was Clarice scared to do anything?
That last thought was the last one that hit him, since he had forgotten about the two twin brutes on the floor. While he had looked back at his one teacher, he had collided with one of the brutes, and lost his breath. It was like he had hit a wall. Then the wall hit him, and he crumpled to the floor. He lost conscious as darkness took over.
IV. Clarice
Clarice Ferguson-Thomas was still in shock at the sight of the figure in front of her. She had been told before that this timeline had a Victor Creed in it, but he was nothing like the man who had trained her. This one seemed to be a psychopath, and hell bent on hurting her friend, Jubilation. True, she had learned that this one had a serious grudge with Wolverine, and that Wolverine was like a father figure to Jubilation, but there had to be a way to reason with this one.
After a moment, she decided that she would need to find some sort of reason with Victor Creed. There had to be a small part of her version of him in there, and she had to try and reach it. She stepped in between Victor Creed and his intended target, but with enough distance between her and him. If she couldn't get through to the man, she wanted to make sure she could safely handle what ever he did. Her version of him had trained her in fighting.
As she stood there, she heard Paige shout to her, "Blink, what the blazes are you doing?" She actually expected that reaction from any of the former Generation X members, since they all had encountered Victor Creed before. Hell, she knew of the history of Sabretooth as it pertained to Jubilation. It was no doubt why he was focused on reaching her.
She locked her eyes on Sabretooth, and then said to Paige, "I'm hoping I can get reason to work. There may be a part of him that is like my Sabretooth." The second the last word was uttered, she saw a sneer cross the face of Sabertooth. That didn't bode well for her thoughts of reaching any aspect of the one she knew. As a precaution, she created one of her teleportation pikes.
At that moment, Sabretooth just let out a rough, vile laugh. "Do you honestly think that will stop me? The twerp knows I have a healing factor like the runt. That little thing won't even inconvenience me, if it were to even touch me." In that moment, she knew reason wasn't going to work. She was going to have to fight him, and if this Sabretooth was like hers, it wouldn't be much of a battle.
She had only one hope, and that was for someone to help her. The problem was that she would need numbers, and with all the unknown foes they faced, she wasn't sure who could help. She also didn't want any of the students to get hurt by Sabertooth. That meant she had to go it alone, and ran straight towards him, one of her pikes ready.
To her dismay, she was quickly backhanded away, and over the railing. The force of the blow had also taken her by surprise. It made her realize that this Sabretooth was nothing like the one she had known. This one truly was a sociopath, and seemed hell bent on reaching his intended target, and she was now going to pay the price for getting in the way.
Just as she was about to hit the floor, she was thankful to feel someone catching her. She didn't have to look at who it was. She already knew that it was Darrett. He still hadn't summoned up anything, but with all the demons about, she was certain he was worried he would only be adding to the confusion. She could have avoided that, however, if she had kept her wits about her, and teleported at the last second.
Once she was in his arms, however, she glanced back up at the balcony in the foyer. Sabretooth was slowly making his way towards Jubilation, and they would need anything that could stop the mad man. With the attack going on like it was, however, she had a bad feeling that Sabretooth would be allowed the thing he wanted, which would be horrific, given the fact that Jubilation was pregnant.
V. Paige
Paige Guthrie watched as Darrett caught his wife amidst all the chaos that was going on. It had been a saving grace, since she had seen Sabretooth backhand Clarice off the upper floor. It was something they didn't need to happen with all the demons flying about. It left them drastically outnumbered, and she knew Darrett could help them even the odds.
She glanced over to see Jonothan blasting away more of the little things. They definitely needed something to help even the odds. She glanced over at Darrett, and said, "Summoner, you need to use your power. We need to even the odds here. Isn't there something you can bring forth?"
She watched as Darrett shook his head, and pointed at the little demons. "I'm not sure. I have a feeling if I summon something, Arisa might be able to usurp it." Paige hadn't even thought about that. Darrett's power was to summon and control evil creatures. Arisa's powers weren't mutant, so they weren't sure how they worked.
She was startled for a moment when a sword swung through the air. She had first thought that it was Richard's, but it didn't look like his. She then remembered about the one girl at the school, Kiana. The girl wasn't a mutant, but a budding talent when it came to magic. As the girl finished her swing, Paige heard her say, "I don't fully understand my cousin's control, but once she's knocked out, the demons will disappear."
It was something Paige wanted to hear. They knock out Arisa, and they would drop the number of problems they were dealing with. She glanced at the blade Kiana had, and had a brainstorm. Maybe she could use her powers to make her own arms into something similar.
She grabbed at the skin of her arms, and started to rip it off. As she did so, she focused on the blade she had seen. Soon, her arms had become the same as the blade she had seen. She was going to hope they had the same abilities as the sword, and took a swing at one of the demons. While the demon didn't disappear, it did go flying through the room, and into a wall. She was thankful for that, and knew she could now focus her attention on Arisa.
She started towards Arisa, but stopped when the two twin brutes stepped in her path. Both were eyeing her, and she didn't like that. She had seen what happened to Kevin, and she wondered what their secret was. She, however ,wasn't going to be intimidated. Hell, she was an X-Man. "Alright, you two. If y'all know what's good for you, you'll back away." She made sure both of the brutes could see her metal arms.
To her shock, they just laughed at her. She had never had that reaction from any of the foes she had faced over the years. When they were done laughing, however, she was startled when they each grabbed an arm. The one on the left looked at the other, and said, "Feel anything, brother?"
She almost screamed when she felt both of them pull on her arms. When they had done that, she felt them squeezing the metal parts of her arms. It was then the other one said, "Maybe a slight tingle, brother. You want to toss her, or shall I?" That exchange bothered Paige. These two seemed to hint that there was something extra in the material she had turned her arms into, but they seemed unaffected.
She was momentarily glad when the first one let go, but she was still in shock that she hadn't realized the second responded to the action by starting to spin. All she heard was the first one saying, "She's all yours. I'd say to chuck her at the black girl over there. I think she's some sort of mind witch." Paige already knew what was going to happen, but before she could shout out, she was flying towards Tasha Lewis. She just hoped that someone would come to either of their aid.
VI. Tasha
Tasha Lewis had her hands full, so to speak. Since this incident started, she was trying to stay in the back while mentally tracking everyone. With all her lessons, she was using her new skills to try and keep tabs on everyone. She had already detected a few who were hurt, or were in pain. The biggest obstacles, however, were the great emotions of fear, and bloodlust.
The former was radiating out of Mrs. Thomas, and that was being amplified by her teacher's pregnancy. This was definitely not a good situation for her to be in. Of course, the bloodlust coming from the other figure was a good reason for her to be afraid. It was the one figure they learned was the most dangerous from Mrs. Thomas.
She tried to focus on the other feeling. It was coming from the figure she had learned was Sabretooth. He was one she had devoted some extra studying to. From what she had learned, he had a resistance to psychic intrusions. It was something he actually had in common with Mrs. Thomas. It was a good thing that she had asked permission to try and get into her mind. It would make what she was about to attempt a bit easier.
She focused on Sabretooth, and tried to lock onto his mind. While she could sense the bloodlust, the trick was trying to get through it and to his mind, especially his motor control. There were definitely barriers there, ones that seemed like they were there from the start. She had been told that even Charles Xavier had difficulty getting through, but Tasha hadn't been taught by Xavier. She had been taught by Lady Cale. She had a different way of doing this, and Tasha had adopted it in some way.
To her relief, she saw Sabretooth stop in his tracks. It was also obvious that he was surprised by his sudden immobility. He obviously didn't know who was the cause of it, but his gaze remained focused on Mrs. Thomas, and Tasha was almost overwhelmed by and increase in hostility to her. "I don't know how you are doing this, twerp, but it won't save you."
All of a sudden, she felt Sabretooth fighting her control. She focused on fighting him, hoping he didn't pick up on her mind. As she did that, she briefly heard the two brutes say something. She had noticed something about them earlier, but hadn't had a chance to tell anyone. She had picked up on a psychic connection that fed power to them. It was as if they were feeding power to one another.
All of a sudden, she was knocked off her feet, causing her to lose the focus she had on Sabretooth. She saw him stumble and fall to the floor, and hoped he would be stunned by the action. She then realized who had knocked her down. It had been Prince James. Before she could question it, she heard him say, "Those two had just thrown Husk at you. I don't know if they realized what you were doing, but I didn't want you to get hurt."
She glanced over to where Paige now was, and noticed that her arms were metal. If one of those had hit her, she might have been knocked out or injured. She tried not to blush, especially since she and James had a budding relationship, and in the heat of battle, it wasn't something they should give away to potential enemies.
She took that moment to say to James, whose powers were no help at the moment, "Thanks, but you should have stayed safe." She understood why he did it, though. She then asked, "Is there anyway you can latch on to the moisture in the air? We need to stay safe, since I think I figured out how those two brutes are able to do what they do." She could see that James was thinking about it, but as he was, she noticed something else. She saw that Sabretooth was now starting to advance on Mrs. Thomas again, and that wasn't good.
VII. Sabretooth
Sabretooth continued his advance towards Jubilee. He had waited a long time for this opportunity, and he was going to take it. It was the only thing he wanted to join Dio's crew. He was willing to wait to kill the others, but Jubilee was his now. It was even better because he could smell the fear coming off of her. He even sensed something more in her smell.
He momentarily took his eyes off her for a moment, certain her own fear would keep her in place. She was so scared she wasn't using that annoying power of hers, which was a plus for him. He took that moment, however, to glance at another figure he wanted to slaughter. It was that of Richard Cale. He had a score to settle with that guy as well. The last time he had encountered any of the members of the group that had been Generation X, that guy and Jubilee had sent him flying with some high level fireworks. Now, the guy was making what Sabretooth was sure was a suicide run. At least it would be that if Dio wasn't just testing them.
Personally, he wouldn't take that chance. He has had a few encounters with the X-Men, and Wolverine. He had learned from experience that once you have the element of surprise, you go with it. Giving them a chance to strike back was foolish, and that described Jubilation right now. He also figured it applied to Richard Cale as well. The mutant was charging right for Dio, foolishly running between the two twins. Sabretooth had seen them in action, and they were tough. He still didn't understand their power, but he was told that together they were unstoppable. Maybe after he killed Jubilee, he might be able to test that for himself.
His thoughts were cut short, however, when he heard a growl. It came from a door that was nearby. A quick sniff of the air told him a familiar scent was there. A brief thought back to the one time he got to the school told him that the scent went with a cat that had been there. No doubt, the growl he heard was something generated to try and scare him. Did they actually think that would work?
He took one step more, and the door exploded. In that moment, Sabretooth realized that he had underestimated things. He was so focused on the moment that he didn't even take into account that there was an unfamiliar scent in the air. That scent belonged to the large figure that burst through the door. He first wanted to lash out, but he was stunned by the size of the creature. What he could gather, however, was the figure was both female and feline, and that it sent him flying with one gigantic paw swipe.
VIII. Chrissy
When Chrissy burst through the door, she knew there would be trouble. She almost didn't react in time, which would have resulted in a nasty gash on her arm. While it would not have been nasty now, when she returned to normal size, it would have been life threatening. Fortunately, she had reacted when she heard Grimore say, "Get Sabretooth first. He's a genuine killer," and sent the attacker flying.
She knew Kevin Dallas was behind her, but she wasn't going to let him through yet. She turned her head to look at Jubilation, and asked, "Are you alright?" Given her unique powers, as well as origin, she had the heightened senses that fit with the cat-girl look. When they had approached the door, she could smell the fear coming from Jubilation, and knew she couldn't waste any time getting through.
She felt relieved when her friend nodded, and then pointed out in the direction of the fray. "Yea. I'm alright now. But the others are going to need your help." She then saw Jubilation's eyes focus on something. She could sense it before her friend could say anything. She lifted up one hand, and almost casually, swatted away one of the small imp-like creatures that was causing difficulty for the group.
She gave Jubilee a quick smile and said, "Call it a cat thing." She then glanced out at the fray. She could see the figure she had just swatted away seemed a bit dazed, but she had a feeling he was not going to be happy when he got his senses together. She then caught a glimpse of the others. The others were handling the imps, but there were people who were also fighting her friends.
She started to recognize some of the figures. It wasn't a good thing, since it meant they had faced them before. She recognized the two twins, and remembered they were tough, and virtually unbeatable. That wasn't a good thing to see since she knew who they worked for.
She then heard Grimore shout, "Balam, it appears Richard is going to fight the leader of the group." She turned her attention to Richard, and saw him rushing towards the one person she didn't want to see. She had a feeling it wouldn't help that Richard was also trying to cross between the twins, but she felt that would be a folly.
She didn't waste time though. She moved enough so Kevin could get out from behind her. She heard him move forward, knowing full well that Kevin had pulled out a specialized pair of riot guns. The guns had been designed to use all sorts of ammo, and at Richard's insistence, the only ammo Kevin kept while they were at the school was the kind that wouldn't hurt anyone. In this case, she knew it only fired rubber shells, but she wished now it would be something more dangerous.
As Kevin moved towards the railing of the balcony, she uttered the words she knew he wouldn't want to hear. "Kevin. It's Dio. He's behind this." Somehow, when she said the words, things seemed to slow down, like everyone involved had heard her say it, and were focusing their attention on her. It wasn't the first time she had that sensation while in a battle. She just hoped it wouldn't be the last.
IX. Kevin D.
Kevin Dallas locked his sights on to the figure he was all too familiar with. The Asian man who stood full of confidence in the wrecked entrance to the hall. He was familiar with how the guy worked, having fought him before. It wasn't until Chrissy came along that he had decided that it would be best to run from the second fight with Dio. It was actually part of the guy's modus operandi. Dio would have a first attack to judge the power of his opponents, seeing if any would be worth keeping alive.
He noticed then that Richard was rushing Dio, preparing to swing a sword at him. Kevin knew that wouldn't work, but he tried to shout a warning. "Richard. Watch out. He has blades of..." He trailed off when he noticed something odd happening. Richard's run took him right between the twins. It was an action that Richard seemed to notice as well as the twins. They had both paused, a puzzled look of surprise on their faces. He could tell they were puzzled, but not overly concerned.
Richard, on the other hand, seemed surprised by something sudden. His run had picked up speed, as if he had gotten an unexpected boost of some sort. This was enough to throw off his friend's actions, and that was bad. He saw Richard struggle to swing his sword in time, but it wouldn't have mattered. Dio was already countering the strike.
Kevin watched as Dio raised his arms, and green energy blades engulfed the man's arms. That was part of Dio's powers, and given that Dio was also a master swordsman, Kevin could predict how this would play out. Sure enough, Dio deflected the blow, and then managed to strike Richard with the flat of the blade. The action caused a shock to engulf Richard, and sent Kevin's friend flying through the air. Miraculously, Kevin saw Clarice react in time, jumping up to catch Richard's unconscious form in mid flight.
He took that moment to aim his gun, and fired one of the rubber riot shots at Dio. He knew the shot would be good, and wouldn't kill Dio, but it might cause Dio to retreat now, allowing the others to recover from the attack. He just hoped the shot would connect, and that no one would stop it. He had a feeling the Dio was not expecting both him and Chrissy to be there.
Luck had sided with him, since he saw nothing get in the path, and the rubber bullet connected with Dio's chest, making the villain stagger back. Kevin made sure he was looking right at Dio, and he saw Dio raise an eyebrow in surprise. He couldn't help but remark at the action. "Yea, Dio. It's me. Nice to see you again." He hoped his flippant tone would be enough to put a wrench in Dio's plans.
The look he saw changed into a sneer. Dio apparently still thought he had the advantage. There might be some serious proof to that, given how the people of the school were still reeling from the attack. Kevin just kept his riot gun aimed at Dio as his adversary said, "Well, well. I had a feeling I'd cross paths with you again. Why don't you do them a favor, and convince them to give up. You know how these things go. How many times has it been now? Three? Four?"
Kevin didn't flinch. With his power to be reborn, dying didn't bother him, but he couldn't think of just himself. He had to keep in mind all the students here, as well as the teachers who were his friends. He kept his eyes on Dio as he responded, "To be honest, I lost count. Just leave. I know that's part of what you do. You wouldn't want to risk anyone you could potentially exploit."
He saw Dio smirk again. "Very true. Tell that foolish friend of yours that if he knows what's good for everyone, he'll surrender when we return." Kevin then saw Dio make a signal, and the attackers started getting together. The only one who appeared to hesitate was the one Chrissy had swatted away. Kevin had a feeling that the fiend didn't want to leave, but he heard Dio say, "Sabretooth, you'll get your chance later. Right now, we pull back."
As Dio's group left, Kevin didn't relax. Dio had been one of Cannon's most ruthless enforcers. While Cannon had ended his nastiness, Kevin felt certain that Dio continued the work, or whatever Dio had been doing. Knowing now that Cannon hadn't been completely evil, he started to think that the part of Asylum 7 that Dio had been in charge of had harsher treatment than the others. He still remembered the screams he heard from that one.
He blinked, realizing he was hearing a scream at the moment. It was a scream of pain, and it caused all the people to look around. Dio and his goons were gone, but the screams persisted. He then saw the reason for them. The one student, Allen Aaron was lying in the middle of the floor screaming in pain. Kevin knew there was a reason for it, but he couldn't recall. It didn't look like he had any cuts or such. Kevin realized what it was, however, just a few moments into the scream. The boy couldn't bear to be in natural light. He started to make his way down, reaching for the first thing he could find that would cover the boy up.
X. Allen
Allen Aaron awoke in some of the worst pain he had had in years. He was quickly getting his wits about him, since it seemed that the fight was over. He just needed get covered up, or transform. Right now, the latter was out of the question, so he needed something to cover himself up with.
He was thankful when some one came over to him, and said, "Here, this will help." The statement was accompanied by a cover of some sort being put over his body. In that moment, the pain went away. He seriously hated having the rare condition that made him unable to enjoy light of any sort, unless he used his powers.
After a moment, he got up and looked around. For the most part, everyone one looked alright. A few of them were holding their sides, or some place else, signifying that they had received some sort of injury. Lord Cale, however, was starting to get up, shaking his head.
He heard the one teacher, Paige Guthrie say, "Well, that was a stroke of luck. Kevin, you and Chrissy arrived in the knick of time." He had to agree with that, even though he had been knocked out. If the two hadn't arrived when they did, they might have all been badly beaten.
To his surprise, he heard Kevin say, "While my arrival was timely, he was about to retreat. Dio wouldn't have let any of you get hurt, at least not yet." That statement puzzled him, since the way their foes had been fighting, it didn't seem like they were holding back.
He then heard Jubilation Thomas respond to the statement. "Yeah right." Her tone was full of sarcasm, and he understood why. The one guy had been going up to kill her. He heard her continue. "Whomever that was, he had Sabretooth with him, and that psychopath was coming to kill me." He had to agree with her on that. The way the others were fighting, they couldn't have been holding back.
After a moment, he saw Richard Cale finally stand up. The head of the school looked bewildered, but his movement seemed to draw all attention to him. As he watched, he heard the head of the school say, "It seems we made an incorrect assumption. We thought we were dealing with one problem, but what we have is a new one." He saw the head of the school look at Kevin, and heard him then say, "Someone you are familiar with, Kevin?"
He watched as Kevin said nothing, but the cat girl, Chrissy, answered as she shrunk back to her normal size, holding a hand on a spot on her arm. "Yes. We both have fought Dio before. This was only his first attack. It's part of how he operates. We can tell you more, but…" He saw her look at her arm, and gasped as it appeared to be bleeding. He didn't think that could be right, but it caused everyone to react.
He saw the others start to converge on her, some with cloths and such, not fully understanding what was happening. He then felt an arm on his shoulder, and he looked back to see it was Everett Thomas. His other teacher said, "It's the down side of her power. If she gets wounded, the wound remains in the size it was received in. While it looks like a minor scratch while she's huge, it becomes a lethal cut when she shrinks." Now he understood the concern.
As they tended to her wound, he saw Richard Cale put his sword away. That was an amazing sight, since the sword was mystical, but it didn't make him feel better. He then heard the head master say, "Alright. We need to talk. Let's tend to those who got wounded, and then discuss Dio and his cronies. I think I may have stumbled upon something when I went to rush Dio. We might also learn how he got Arisa out of jail when Graylon gets here." With that, Aaron watched everyone gather together to tend to those hurt, as well as get out of the now wrecked entry hall. While that happened, he wondered if his own weird power might be able to help in this situation.
From the Author
To my loyal reader, and fellow Generation X fans.
I want to apologize for the long wait for this next chapter. As always, life is my biggest adversary in getting my writing done. That is the biggest reason why it took this chapter over two years to get done. To those who have waited, thank you. For those who were tempted to say something in a review, thank you for not saying it. With various projects in the works, it can take time to get things done. Couple that with providing for my family, raising my daughter, and family obligations, it has led to the delay between chapters. I can hope that the next chapter doesn't take as long to write. I will state that at this point, the story is 40% done. Also, in later chapters of the previous story, I had switched one characters name. This was not intentional, and only now I have realized what I had done. From this point on, the characters name will remain Allen Arron.
