Yooooooooo! Been a couple of years...crap happens. I almost know how I want this to go again but don't expect regular updates on this now. I tend to have writer's block regarding it.
Ch. 5
"Duude. It just hit me…" Laney stated sometime after they finished dinner while sitting in the living room with Corey and his mom.
"What?", both mother and son inquired at the same time.
"We actually ate spiders for dinner. Real spiders! Not other food shaped like spiders but the actual real thing!" Laney said looking surprised despite herself as it truly sunk in now after the fact. Tiana snorted in amusement at this whereas Corey just gave a half smile of understanding.
"Dinner was somewhat disturbing yeah but it wasn't that bad and look on the upside! At least it wasn't roaches. Oh! Thanks for dinner btw mom", Corey said brightly.
"Oh you're right and same here Tia! Dinner is never dull when you pick it", Laney agreed.
"No problem you two. I'm just glad someone other than me liked it if only just a bit. And I suppose I should keep in mind to never try to feed you guys roaches?", Tia responded calmly while somewhat amused.
"That would probably be for the best", they both answered solemnly then Corey let out a snort of laughter he couldn't hold in which set the other two ladies off into chuckles.
"Ok, ok. For serious, let me just jot that down so I don't forget", Tiana giggled as their laughter faded off. Corey and Laney stared at his mother with mild disbelief that she was now actually typing out a memo in her phone, implying that she would have at some point tried to feed them beetles…
That's really ultra gross transition
Laney's mom had appeared sometime ago to pick up her daughter and yet they were still at the Riffin's house because both their mom's wouldn't stop talking. Not like they cared. "Yo Core, since we're still gonna practice what time should I come tomorrow?" Laney asked boredly after a period of silence flowed between them as they watched some sitcom to wait until she left. Corey glanced away from the gross commercial that just aired, seriously who just eats another person's pimples regardless that they turned into candy?!, to the girl sitting next to him with a decidedly bland expression. "Meh, the usual time is good. We're mostly gonna be working on our solos and lyrics while Kin and Kon are gone", he responded with a half hearted shrug.
Laney just nodded her head with a murmured "Alright".
A brief pause as they watched the television and then, "Should we try to focus on a certain theme or specific sound?" "Hmmmm...nooo, no I don't think so. Like, maybe we could write out a list of ideas to focus to go over with Kin and Kon later but that's it", Corey replied thoughtfully.
"Ok kids!", said kids jumped in startlement at the abrupt sound of Laney's mom's voice, "Say goodnight now, we're about to leave".
Getting up Corey and Laney gave each other a bro-hug of manly friendship, continuously tossed around goodnights to everyone up until Laney and her mom closed themselves into a car and started to back out the driveway to head home. During the short car ride home Laney shared exaggerated stories of the dinner she had with the Riffin's this night to her mother's amusement and quiet alarm. Once the recap was finished Laney recalled the gift she placed in her pocket and removed it to inspect it while her mother offered guesses for what it could be.
Shrugging, because the only way to know what she got would be to open it, she opened the small package to find a small bottle of body cream once inside the house. Opening the bottle she took a quick whiff to see how it smelled. 'Mmmm not bad...not my new favorite scent but nice', Laney thought, taking a few more sniffs before closing it. 'Alright, let's get to bed I guess', Laney thought after deciding to try the body cream another night and looked around her room for her bubble bath things.
Girly Night Routine Transition
Wishing her parents a sweet goodnight by yelling out from a crack in her bedroom door like a banshee, Laney soon settled into bed with her wicked cool journal that she had customized with Grojband symbol drawings. She called it her: Song Material Attempt Journal. It may be a mouthful, buuuut it's still shorter than anything Corey would name it. Opening it with pen in hand, Laney spent however long it took her to fall asleep rereading the ideas she'd managed to jot down and going over her attempts to make some of their band's previous songs longer.
Well there you have it. I doubt it was worth the wait but I hope you enjoyed it.
