Honestly, I was smiling like a lunatic while reading, and at the end I almost teared up. This is such a wonderful and heartfelt confession, so true to his character - all rough and tough on the outside but soft and loving when you look beneath the surface - and just generally awesome!
I agree with you, when it comes to the crew Firouz is probably the one Doubar has the most troubles with. The two of them are just so different in personality, interests and way of thinking. Nevertheless though we know that they do care and are friends, even if the scientist frequently annoys the first mate with his babbling and Doubar ignores him in return. "Conundrum" showed that quite clearly when they admitted to each other that they admired the other for their talents. Doubar does feel stupid sometimes and Firouz weak, but together they're quite the team.
I can really see the Nomad's resident physician take care of the gruff sailor like that - Mother hen him and treat him to the best of his abilities. And the entire crew helps in whichever way they can, because each single one of them cares about their jolly first mate.
Of course Sinbad would relieve his big brother of his duties and spend more money on good food that will help Doubar recover. It's so funny though that Doubar hates oranges! I for one like them, aslong as they are not dry or too sour or have started to ferment, but the thought that he detests them when those fruits are exactly what Firouz orders he eats - that's priceless! Aw, and Bryn's coaxing him into eating them and calms him down when Doubar gets too frustrated about it all. That's just soo... even when in your world Bryn and Dermott are fated to be together I love that special friendship between those two so much! It might not be romantic love that's there between the sorceress and the first mate, but I feel like it's a deep love in the sense of a family bond and that is just as beautiful!
And even Dermott and Rongar help to the best of their abilities. Doubar is indeed so blessed and it makes my heart swell to think of how much this crew loves their tubby member.
It's a new idea to me that he didn't realize it before already, that he only ever focused on Sinbad so much that he didn't even notice that he is loved, too. But on the other hand it fits him as we did learn that he has doubts about himself (Conundrum, The Isle of Bliss) and that makes it even more beautiful!
I feel like you have drawn a very accurate picture of Doubar with this, and you captured his inner voice so very well. Maybe even better than I ever did, because my Doubar's too much of a softie sometimes. x)

Oh I didn't see this one before.. it's very lovely, deep and romantic.. love it so much..
so Bryn and Dermot know each other from before? And his eyes are gray... I always thought they were brown!

Are you crazy? Not as good as the first chapter? This is just as great!
I really love your first person style and think you covered both Sinbad and Bryn very well so far! Bryn's voice is a little different from the one she has in my head, but I think that's just normal considering she wasn't as flashed out in the show as the other crew members were. She's a bit more insecure, more longing for her past and wondering who she was before than I myself imagined her to be. But I tell you what - I like it!
I adore how she stands there, watching herself and pondering whether that's really who she is. Or better to say whether who she is now and who she was before are the same person. I think, when I write about her I mainly focus on what part of her life she could be missing (family, friends, memories and such) whereas here it's more like she's wondering about /herself/ and that's great! It feels so believable and realistic. So truly well done on that part!
And Dermott's presence and her thoughts on him: aww, that was awesome, too. To depict that they've known each other from before, that's so lovely. And how you described what he meant to her, how those eyes and him just being there make her feel warm and safe and at home... You know, after only this one chapter I feel I should be careful about reading your fics now. You might just make me join the Dermott/Bryn party boat with your sweet way of portraying those two. ;)
Finally, that very last sentence: that was amazing. Really, really loved that! Who is she with Dermott around - a guardian or the one guarded? That's perfect! Simply perfect!

Hey, I like this one very much :) You really made great work.
It reveals a lot from inside the character -a.k.a Sinbad- that we always sensed but couldn't our hand on.

Oh squee! Thank you teti for posting that! I love those stream-of-consiousness type fics. I love getting in the heads of the characters and you describe it so well. There is just so much brewing within Sinbad that he never gives voice to. You capture his voice really well. Thanks for writing it!

Wow, that was utterly amazing! How heart-felt and true. I just love how you had Sinbad confess what he would never dare tell anyone, and how you made me - as the reader - feel what he felt, experience what he sensed.
Your choice of language was awesome, and so very artistic in a way. You definitely improved tremendously there! Seriously, I wish I could come up with stuff like that, but my vocabulary just seems to mutiny against me on a regular level. xP
And on a general note, I really like the idea behind this new story which might well turn into a little series of fics as it seems. I hope we'll get to read more from you soon!
