I know I've written before about this story, but in rereading it, I see what a truly magnificant stroke of genius, albeit, hysterical, at times it is. The final ending,, ah, without Dionyosios' little "gift" from Hephestos, is almost believable given the scope of Alexander's myth. This story is one for keeps, I think A & H would be thrilled. Lysis

amazing quantity of things happening here!
Olympias as a panther, I could have not thought about another animal to be her. I love the way she protected Phai from the danger and how Alexander quickly accepted her.
Awww the baby is here and safe, ready to be a true prince.
What a nice twist, being the soldiers who pushed Alexander and his family to go on with the conquests.

Dear Delos,
What a nice birthday present to my other 'net friend zhouhua00. The conclusion of this tale is most satisfying, an imaginative and inventive AR / AU.
Poor Hephaestion. He has so many issues to deal with, mostly troublesome. Olympias is of course the worst of them! She is a terrible Mother. One hopes that Alexander never will know about her reactions and hard words on his condition. She ought to keep silent and even grateful since it all is her doing! :) I was quite shocked by her comments so you handled this well by punishing her and turning her into a black panther. It seems that Panther Olympias is filled with remorse! :) I enjoy the imagery of her hunting in the forest. She immediately finds a giant snake *friend*, too. One hopes that she will be returned to herself sometime, though.
Of course Hephaestion is worried for Alexander's delivery. He makes the best of precautions, but it will not become necessary since the Royal baby is miraculously and painlessly delivered, probably by Olympias and her snake friend, with the help of the Gods themselves. The picture of them with the little baby boy is beautiful and moving. Alexander's surprise and wonder over where his baby bump has gone is quite hilarious. :)
The ending with Alexander wanting to go home to Macedon and his Army wanting to go on is a surprising turnout of events. The *real* Alexander sure would have liked it that way when he wanted to go further on!

2.I am sorry Perdiccas and Apsara lost their baby. I was hoping for a boy who would grow up to be a good companion to Alexander Jr. And the name of Meleager sent shivers down my spine. His bitter struggle against Perdiccas and the following bloodshed right after Alexander’s death doomed the empire, and buried the seed of Perdiccas’ murder a couple years later but that’s another story.
3.I was hoping that Dionysus, or Zeus himself, or whoever would come in and perform a Caesarean section on Alexander to deliver the baby, and I was even ready to suggest renaming Caesarean section to Alexander section, LOL! But I like your idea of a miraculous, painless delivery.
4.I can’t help laughing when you turned history upside down to let Alexander suggest that they should go back to Macedon while his troop insisted on keep marching. Personally I think it a good idea that the army goes back home. I never see the point of Indian champion (but then I didn’t see the point of Bactrian champions either), and I smile at the idea Alexander and his army actually reached the Indian Ocean.

I enjoy this update - but I am not sure if Hepaehstion enjoys his new royal *mother*. Olympias is most possessive - and her opinions about Alexander are horrible! Things will turn to the worse before they become better, I fear. The Macedonian Court will never be the same with the events in your story…
The interactions are made quite *believable* in this very AR tale. I enjoy Alexander' s and Hephaestion's and the Companions' ways of handling the strange events occurring.

I have to feel sorry for your Olympias - she cut such a pathetic figure here, so different from the historical one.
I am surprised she felt so bad about Alexander becoming pregnant, isn't that what she asked for? LOL! Not exactly but the result is all the same. I had worried Alexander might react bad to his pregnancy (which he actually reacted quite well), but I didn't expect Olympias to have a such a fit towards the son that she always adorned.
And I do feel bad when Hephaistion hit her - I hope you can change it because it is NEVER OK to hit a woman, not to say an old women, not say your mother-in-law, NO MATTER what terrible things she said. I wonder if this is your way to revenge for the historical Hephaistion who suffered a lot of slander and nagging from the Queen. Still, it is absolutely wrong to hit an old women, and I do not believe either the historical Hephaestion or your version would ever do that.
