Your writing style is alternative.
This fic is written more like some kind of fairy tale, as if an adult is trying to tell a child a story and explain him/her what the characters are fealing. This leads to a (by comparison) very noticeable narrator. I can almost imagine sitting across him in a living room while he (Sue me, the narrator was male for me) tells me this story, a fire cracking behind me.
Judging by the effect of your story on me I'd say it's a good one. But it's hard for me to judge it, I don't really understand how to deal with that type of storytelling and where exactly the parts are that have the most impact on me. Therefore I don't really know where to go into further detail.
Idea-wise and in it's summarized execution it was a good story, I repeat, that's all from me

I feel sad that this fic only has three reviews. D: It's a well-written piece and Hubert is just so... Hubert, that it huuurts. Romantic Pascal will forever be awkward for me forever, seeing as I can never imagine her being romantic...ever. So anywaaaay, aside from all that this is overall a nice fic. Haha! Thanks for writing this. :)
