I always thought the reason luffy was so dumb was a combination of being rubber and his upbringing by mountain bandits. Think about it the brain runs on electromagnetic signals and with a rubber brain Luffy's mental growth was seriously stunted so mentally he barely grew mentally from the bratty 7 year old who ate the fruit. I mean seriously he mocks Don Krieg for just having numbers but a ragtag little band of strong people aren't much better when surrounded by a Yonko and their crew. The only reason they've survived this long is due to luck cause by plot necessity. They only escaped from Big Mom pirates because Germa, firetank pirates, and sun pirates helped them. You need numbers and strength to not only take the crown but keep it.

Alright now that I can read this without giving myself a major headache I have to say this is a nice twist and I am looking forward to seeing how Luffy's adventures change from possessing a different DF!

This was really great, can't wait for the next chapter. I think you should make Luffy smarter than in canon. Just like his body, I always blamed his devil fruit for him being so stupid. Like his muscles, his brain is rubber too, so when Luffy learns something, his brain "stretches" before snapping back into place. That's why regardless of all the new things he learns on his adventures, he never gets any smarter.
