for Damn Fish

Loved this story. Hephaestion using someone who wanted to use him and made Alexander jealous had me snickering but that last line was priceless. As for the fish sigh I love fish BUT am allergic to shellfish and I now live in a seacoast town where most of the restaurants seem to have shellfish for the majority of their menus...very annoying. I feel for Hephaestion here.

"Myron?" "Yes, my lord?" "Get lost" - this part had me laughing out loud! Great story, thank you for sharing!

I can just imagine that they would have an interesting time later, whether in Hephaistion's rooms or Alexander's - when they were alone and in bed... I am a fish lover, though they are expensive. According to James Davidson, in his book *Fishcakes and Coutesans*, fish was a luxury food in Athens.

Oh, what a fantastic story, you made my day! I absolutely like this mischievous, teasing and bored Hephaistion. He know Alexander so well, but not just him - despite still being relatively young, he is already an excellent judge of human nature - not just Alexander's, of course, whom he knew so well for many years now, but also complete strangers, like the young cup bearer.

I like your Perdiccas, as usual; always a young girl at his side and a good chuckle at the expense of his king and his beloved. I think he might have been like that in real life - somehow most of the writers present him is this particular light.

You have a very original take of the "fishes" episode, which is indeed rather popular in fanfiction. And making an Athenian Hephaistion to hate fish - this is so cruel of you! Pella at the time was closer to the Thermaic gulf than now and Macedonia has a lot of rivers, I assume there was enough fish in the Macedonian diet for the cooks to perfect the gifts of Poseidon; and Hephaistion liked none of it? tsk, tsk, tsk. :)

Oh, the infamous huge dinning tent of the Macedonian kings. There is actually a big information stand in Dion with a painting of that tent with Alexander entertaining the guests. I even took a picture of it thought the painting is rather ... childish, to put it mildly. It represents the farewell party at Dion before Alexander embarked on his Asian adventure.

Looking forward to your next story for which I actually have a prompt for you. :)
