The fact that Sammy calls him 'Wexi' makes my WHOLE HEART happy. Just so you know. I am never gonna be over how cute she is.
I also love seeing scenes like this where you can really SEE how much Alex takes after his father. The Summers boys are so similar and yet so different, and this kind of thing shows that so starkly. They both have the Baby Face, but Alex gets his from his dad and Scott gets his from his mom and it's a different KIND of baby face, and I love that.

This is absolutely everything that I wanted out of their reunion. It's so stinking perfect.
The fact that Jean can pull herself out of Phoenixing because she gets to see Scott again.
The fact that the Phoenix KNOWS THIS IS THE OTP and tries to use that in its arguments.
The fact that Scott absolutely does not care about anything but Jean.
The way Scott keeps tryna kiss Jean and forget about everything else.
The fact that neither of them are patient about their reunion.
The CONCERN they both show for each other and everything they've been through.
It's like a big freakin' breath of relief and I love. every. second.

I love seeing Scott's whole family come together to take care of him. For someone who usually thinks he has to take on the world by himself, he really is surrounded by people who care and who love him - not just in this universe (where it's more obvious) but in the comics as well. And I just wish that in every universe, Scott could SEE how much he is loved and the lengths people will go to in order to watch out for him, you know?
I also love that K doesn't question Scott on his assurity that Jean is still alive and out there somewhere. The argument she has with Charles is perfect, of course, but more than that, I love the outlook that she describes to him. I mean, it's pretty clear that she's worried she's going to lose her family (again), but here she is, making sure that she supports Scott and making sure that, one way or another, he goes out knowing he was loved (see previous point).
It's a crummy situation, and you can tell every single person here is scared witless about it, but it's so interesting to see all the different characters react to that fear. It really is a character-defining moment for a lot of them.

That exchange still makes me happy. It's exactly what Jean and Scott are to each other. They are soul mates. They think the world of each other. They both think the other hung the moon. Just wanted to shout out how beautiful they are together.
That being said, the rest of this chapter is just... oh man. We all knew that something like this was going to happen sooner or later. You can't just ignore the Phoenix. And with someone so YOUNG and so SCARED, the Phoenix really just needed the right set of circumstances to get out. And boy, did Emma provide that.
You can see Scott giving up after he can't get the fire down once Alex is safe, and it makes me sad. He's so scared. He's only twenty and he thinks this is the end.
Gah. First Bobby and now Scott. Can we collectively agree to hold the X-Men in perpetual Hug Land?

I absolutely adore the dynamic that Scott and Logan have in this universe. I really do. For so many reasons. But this chapter in particular just encapsulates everything I love about the 907. It's got Scott and Logan actually working things out together, relying on each other, respecting each other, and learning from each other. I love that Logan is teaching him meditation and samurai stuff, and I love that Scott is making sure Logan knows how much he is appreciated and loved. It's exactly what both of them need.
It's such a Scott move to try to keep his parents from knowing what's going on even though it's easy to work out. I mean, he knows they're not stupid. He doesn't think they are. But boy does he want to be successful at tricking them. It's SUCH a Scott move. He's such a realist in most things and then BLINDLY optimistic in other things and there really is no telling which end of the pendulum he's going to be at on any given day. What a dork.

Cosmic Penicillin...burning sensation. Funny stuff! I love the banter, you guys do banter so well. I'm glad the sudden return of Scott's optic blasts didn't end disastrously - I think it would have been wise if he had been carrying around a spare set of ruby-quartz glasses. Great chapter all around. I hope you didn't think I was on some gay-bashing thing with my last review, 'cause that ain't me, no way, no how. I just have an instinctive desire to keep existing characters true to their core identities. I love the trend, long though it's been in coming, for increasing diversity in comics - more gay/trans characters, more women, more racial and ethnic characters - it's all good...but I don't like taking a long established character and grafting new characteristics on them, that's all. But please know that I love how you are writing the Bobby/Johnny relationship - in my mind, Johnny isn't gay, but in your story, he is (or at least is bi), and that's your prerogative. Keep up the great work, and please don't get sore at me if I occasionally pic a nit here and there - I love your writing, and I love that your head and your heart's are in the right place. Now on to the next chapter - peace out!
