From the very beginning of Doctor Who in 1963, it was established that Ian and Barbara were not the very first humans that the Doctor had ever met, or was friends with.

If companions keep the Doctor moral, then why is the Doctor constantly giving moral lessons to THEM?

Did the Ninth Doctor ever once say he wanted to die?

He'd never have given humanity a second thought? What about all the humans he'd met before them? If he learned morality from them, then what about all the moral things he did before that? If Rose Tyler kept him moral, then why, in her first episode, did he argue against killing when she wanted to? In The Aztecs he wasn't in favor of human sacrifice, just against changing history. And he WAS the same man. Regeneration doesn't change that.

Very nice story. I have seen all the episodes referenced therein and you've done a fantastic job of blending them into your story. I wish we could have seen the ENTIRE case laid out, from start to finish, of meeting Dr. Tyler (haha, but still thought it should have been Smith) and tracking down the suspects and clues. This felt like just a snapshot of a larger potential fic. Nonetheless, I still loved it and you did a great job! :)
